Hi,

I have just downloaded the game but can only see the top left quarter of the screen. I can navigate around the rest, but not see it. I believe that my monitor resolution is jumping down to 640x480 when I launch the game, but that Rogue Squadron is upscaling to whatever it upscales to (probably not the full 1800x2880), presenting me with only the top quarter.

In theory I could just load the game, and then reset my resolution, but leaving Rogue Squadron results it not responding.

Has anyone else seen this or know what might fix it?

Is there anyway the game can run in a window or use higher resolutions? Are there any configuration files to edit?
My friend told me how to get native resolution/60fps using nGlide. This is what he/I did.

Download and install nGlide. (google nGlide, its the first link.)

Launch nGlide and put in the settings you want it run that game in. On the safe side for now, put in your native resolution. I left the 3DFX logo splash on so i knew it was working.

Find the ROUGE.EXE from the "GOG Games\Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D\ROGUE" dir.

Create a shortcut to it (right click>send to>desktop) and add "-voodoo3" to the end of the Target field in the shortcut's properties (right click the shortcut>properties).
It should look somthing like this:
"C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D\ROGUE\ROGUE.EXE" -voodoo3

Now launch the ROUGE.EXE shortcut you made.

In the new menu that has popped up, choose 'Hardware Configuration".

Then choose "Change 3D Video Card".

Then choose the "Voodoo Card (Driver: GLIDE)" option in the drop down menu.

Click 'Accept, then "OK", then "Done', then lastly "Exit to Windows" to close the menu.

Now here is the important part. In the "GOG Games\Star Wars - Rogue Squadron 3D\ROGUE" dir find the "Rogue Squadron.EXE".

You need to RENAME it to "Rogue Squadro.EXE". I think he explained that it need to be different to "Rogue Squadron.EXE" to stop the graphic settings from being overridden or something.

Now simply launch "Rogue Squadro.EXE" and play.

One problem i had was that I needed to turn off my second monitor and only using the primary as it seemed to cause black screens sometimes.

If this doesn't work for you then I'm afraid I wouldn't know why and can't really help.
I've experienced this before. From what I can tell, it's caused by the Magnifier tool in Windows. It makes text and other items larger, and for some reason, can affect older games.

I run Windows 8.1, so you may have to research how to turn it off for other versions of Windows on your own. For 8.1 here's how to adjust it:

- Open the Control Panel
- Click on Appearance and Personalization
- Under the Display heading, click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller"
- Set the "Change the size of all items" to 100%.
- Sign out and back in again, and then run Rogue Squadron.

Your resolution in game should be fixed, although you'll have to set the magnifier back to its default if you want your text and stuff back to the size it was originally (150% is the default listed on my machine).

Hope that helps!

I have the same issue as the poster where I can only see a small rectangle in the top left corner of the screen, I've followed your instructions and unfortunately I'm still getting the same results. anything else that could help? compatability options or something?
I did as described. The resolution remains low! Alternatives?
Resolved!
