I have a Black Widow SL-6640-SBK Flightstick, which the launcher recognises. However when I try and map it in game, I click on a function and it automatically maps it to "Button 1". When I click another function it asks me if I'm sure I want to rebind button 1. I've tried plugging in both before and after running the game, holding other buttons down while I click, I'd try running through launcher but it asks me for the CD. Does anyone have any ideas?

Soccorro: click on default a couple of times...
Tried that one too I'm afraid. Just clears whatever function I bind button 1 to.
I also have this problem.

Mashing default does nothing.

Tested joystick in other games and works fine.
Ditto :(
Not working for me either. If anybody has any ideas, please let us know!
This is happening to me as well. The launcher recognizes my joystick, but the game won't map the buttons.
Same problem here :(
Same here. Game is unplayable without my joystick.
Initially I wasn't able to map joystick controls until starting the launcher directly. After that when I started the game up the usual way the buttons were all mapped correctly and the game works fine, still unable to map though.

This is with an X55 joystick.
Right now the only thing that works for me is that reset to defaults trick. It's entirely playable but being able to remap the controls would be just perfect.
HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE!

If you're having issues with defining the joysticks buttons (just giving you 1 button) just click on the default button whilst on the joystick option panel, it's on the options on the right hand side. It will define all the controls for you and will work in game.

the controller should work fine.

That's already been suggested, and for many (including me) that still doesn't work.

If you change compatibility mode to windows 98 the default button should work. Be sure to start a game and then quit otherwise it won't stay populated.
Did you get it to work yet? I had the same problem. If you haven't yet, first try changing the compatibility mode to off. By default it might be set to windows xp. If that doesn't work try changing compatibility mode to Windows 98/me.
