I am trying to run this game using a Mac running Catalina (10.15.2). This game is listed as Mac compatible, but will not launch. Any help would be appreciated.

These games won't work because they are DOS games and are bundled with a 32-bit version of the Boxer DOS emulator. Catalina does not support 32-bit software.

Unfortunately, Boxer does not seem to have been updated since 2016, and is still 32-bit.

It shouldn't be too terribly difficult to get these games working. You would just need to grab the game files from the app package, and grab a 64-bit build of DOSBox (the underlying emulator Boxer is based on). I might play with it when I get some time.

The actual game files are located in STAR WARS™ Rebel Assault.app/Contents/Resources/Star Wars Rebel Assault.boxer/C Star Wars - Rebel Assault.harddisk/REBEL/

There is also a "DOSBox Preferences.conf" file in the Rebel Assault.harddisk directory which would set up DOSBox to use the same settings Boxer is using.

Hopefully GOG repackages these games for Catalina soon.
Hi I've just got an M1 iMac. I have a few "classic" games I still like including Rebel Assault.

I've just downloaded them as the package but it just says "the developer needs to update to play" Is this the issue with DOSBOX still?

How can I play them please as it looks like GOG are just leaving them and not helping at all, won't buy anymore until they can help. Or is it also now an issue with M1 Apple chips as well?

Any help appreciated
thanks
