When KOTOR plays movies, it often minimizes itself to the taskbar. I can see the icon, but if I click on it or try to alt-tab back in the game this doesn`t work. I have to close the game via taskmanager and restart and load the game again. The weirdest thing is, that it not always happens when the game plays movies. Often I can see the movie and nothing bad happens, but sometimes it crashes in this weird way. A few times the game even crashed b4 I got to the menu!
Somewhere I read that it could be solved by turning off the movies, but there is no option to do this.
Of course I would be happy if there was a solution without turning off the movies.
Thanks in advance!

To disable the movies, you need to run swconfig.exe. Should be in the game directory.

THX! But I hope that someone shows up with an other way to solve the problem, cause the movies are intersting to watch!
If no one has a better solution, I will mark your answer as solution!
Have you tried running the game in a window? Also, are you using a widescreen hack - that might actually help. Or not. I had the minimising thing happen to me once and I've been unable to reproduce it since, sorry.

Also, what's your setup (Video, OS)?
I hate games running in a window, games have to be fullscreen! Widescreen hack? Why? I don`t have a widescreen monitor. I also read, that the widescreen hack causes the screen to go black instead of playing the videos, so this is not a solution for my problem.
My PC:
Intel Core 2 Duo @3.0 Ghz
4 GB Ram
GeForce GTX 650 with 1GB Vram
OS is Win 7 Home Premium.

That may well be, but it could still help in diagnosing the problem. What resolution is your monitor anyway? One thing that happens in cutscenes is that the game changes resolution, down to 640x480, I believe. One thing that happens when the widescreen hack is applied is that it renders these movies in the specified resolution. So, even if you don't use the widescreen part, the hack may very well have an effect.
Is the Win 7 64-bit and updated with latest service pack? Also, check if there are any files in the logs folder. Or somewhere. I'm not sure how the game can be debugged.
Updates of Windoof are automatic, so my windoof is up to date.Service pack? It`s not Win XP, where service packs were brought out nearly every day! :-)

Actually, there were just 3 in, what, 5 years? 2000, in contrast had 5. But all that still doesn't answer my questions ;)
For Win 7 there does only exist Service pack 1, no more service packs exist! All other questions I did answer. Sorry, if I sound a bit rude, don`t take it personal.

No offence taken, though I guess you missed the part about asking after your monitor's resolution. Also, please read my suggestion above and see if it helps any. If that works, you can then use a full-screen borderless window. For now, though, just testing things out would be good enough.
Full screen borderless? Full screen is always borderless! I`m sure I missed something, cause you surely meant something other than fullscreen.
My monitors native resolution is 1280 x 1024.

It's the window that's borderless. Basically, the idea is to run a game, any game, in a window, make the window borderless, then have the window run at your native resolution. It looks like regular fullscreen, but windows treats it as a windowed process. A lot of people use it nowadays, especially if they run multiple monitors.

Again, though, that's a lot of headaches when you're not even sure they'll fix the problem. My suggestion would be to play the game a) in a smaller window - if and when it crashes again, you might notice something in the background that helps diagnose the problem; b) with flawless widescreen, set to 1280x1024 - might seem pointless, but it might also fix things; see my comment on cinematic resolution above.

Another suggestion would be to actually contact GOG support, who probably have better troubleshooting protocols than I.

Running a game in a (full screen) borderless window is completely different from the normal 'full screen'. You are essentially running the game in a window that you cannot see (just like full screen), as opposed to running the game in a completely separate process. If you ALT+TAB in this mode, you can still see the game on your desktop. Many games nowadays give you the option to run Window / Borderless Window / Full Screen. See attached image.
