I filed a report and did everything they said in both emails, still no dice. Running the save on a friend's computer yeilded no different a result. Anyone else have this problem?

I don't think that's a known bug, at least I've never heard that before.
There still are multiple bugs and circumstances in the vanilla game, that could cause a corruption of a save file. That would explain why the bug persists over multiple systems.

Are you playing with any modifications? And actually with the GOG.com version?

In general I advice you to save often, and into separate files. That's key for KotOR (and KotOR II).
Did you try to load older save? Do you get crash in same place?
