I'm running into problems solving Luxa's quest. When I approach appartment B3 I'm always told to come back alone, no matter where on the map I leave my companions. I tried leaving them in a different area but they transitioned with me.

Go to the party selection screen and remove your companions. You can reverse that step when the fight starts.
