What do you think is the most powerful character you can build in KotOR1 ?
I only really play/recomment two types of characters in KotOR.
---
One is a Scoundrel(2)/Consolar which obviously is a PITA to play in Taris since he cannot levelup there, you cannot play without the main character, and sometimes he has to even fight solo.
Consolar by the way has to be lightside or you dont get to use all the good Wis items and are far less powerful.
---
The other, far less annoying to play is a strength and offense focused Scounrel(7)/Guardian.
Scoundrel and Guardian have something no other combination of classes has, and thats SYNERGY. Scoundrel gets Sneak Attack, and the Guardian Force Jump, what do you know, actually triggers Sneak Attack. Combined with dualwielding, maxed strength, and Force Speed, for a total of four attacks per round, one can basically oneshot most opponents in the game.
Should they survive, Scoundrel already gives you the best of all special attacks, too, Critical Strike. Also use two lightsabers instead of a saber staff for Critical Strike, or its far less effective. Single lightsabers crit on a 19-20 roll, while saberstaffs only crit on a 20 roll. So with Master Critical strike and later a keen weapon (crits on 17-20) you reach crits on a 11-20 roll, so half of the time ! Massive carnage ensues. IIRC nobody survives the second round of attacks.
If they would, they just faced 4 attacks with Critical Strike that all attempt to stun, and the difficulty to resist the stun is based on strength. And guess what, stunned opponents are also subject to Sneak Attack.
IMHO this is an awesome combo.

I also did try defense focused builds, but they never worked out. The opponents just hit you anyway.
You keep them at bay with force powers (mainly Force Wave really) and slaughter them ASAP is the far more effective strategy.
Its a design flaw of D&D and thus d20 is that your attack bonus rises and rises, but yet your ability to build up defenses doesnt keep up. That KotOR1 also lacks stuff that helps with that in other D&D games, like simply SHIELDS, is making matters only worse.

So what are your designs ?
