I plan on doing a play through of the games very soon, being in a Star Wars mood and all.Its been awhile since I last played these games back on Xbox and I never finished the second one. I am going to be doing a lightside playthrough and am leaning towards a scout or a soldier, since I don't feel quite comfortable to do Scoundrel just yet since I now that's more experience players. As for Jedi class I am less decided.

So what I am asking is what you recommend as a good and fun character build for a beginner.

I have done some research and I have found these build while searching around the internet

What are your thoughts on the builds which would you recommend, what are you suggest builds and do you have any advice for a beginner. What kind of Skills and Feats would you recommend.
KotORI:

I'd say starting with soldier is always going to be your best bet. You don't need skills at all. Your companions got that covered. A soldier gives you all the stats that matter to survive in combat which is where it counts.

From there you have to decide if you want to be a saber-centric Jedi or a force-centric Jedi. The simplest way to go is saber-centric, obviously. If you decide to go force-centric you'll need to allocate some points to CHA and WIS. While force powers are handy buffs on a LS playthrough, Bastila and Jolee are also support casters so it is up to you if you want to join them. To either end, only go Guardian or Consular. Forget sentinel. Take one extreme or the other.

The easiest class combo is Soldier > Guardian. You'll only have to worry about STR and CON and maybe a point or two in CHA. Tear it up in combat like it's nobody's business. Have a force caster companion around for those added buffs. Also without having to worry about force powers you're free to wear heavy armor. A force user's biggest weakness is that they're squishy. It's tight trying to cover every stat other than INT, but try to dump points into DEX to compensate.

The only exception to the no skills rule is persuasion so it helps to have at least one point in CHA regardless. Making those speech checks will save you a lot of headaches.

KotorII:

This one's a no brainer. Start with soldier and go Consular. The biggest difference between KotORI&II is that KotORII has a feat that allows you to use your DEX modifier in melee. This allows force users to go toe to toe with a saber. Light armor in KotORII also provides more than adequate protection. If you don't go consular you are sacrificing force powers, full stop. Soldier > Consular is a whirlwind of saber force power destruction in a fancy hat.

Otherwise, same general rules apply. Forget skills but be able to persuade.
Do you want to swing a sword or cast spells, is the question. (Also, whether you want to miss out on some paths open to you if you have more skills.) It is up to you.

Who is Dave?
For Kotor 1 I am thinking of going with Scout\Guardian,Scout\Consular,Soldier\Guardian or Soldier\Consular

I looking to be able to do as much of the game as possible and have as many paths as possible excluding mutually exclusive stuff like Light or Dark Side restricted stuff since I will definitely be playing light side in both.

I like the Soldier for being great in combat, but Scout also has its appeal for me without being a detriment in combat. As for Sword vs Spells I was leaning more towards sword and leaving the force powers to others in my party.
I leaning most toward Scout\Guardian

Here is my planned starting stats for a Scout\Guardian in Kotor I

Stats

STR 15
DEX 12
CON 12
INT 10
WIS 12
CHR 13

"Getdaved build is in reference to the the LP getdaves build used in his KOTOR LP that I found while looking up build ideas and tips.

As for Kotor 2 I am leaning towards a Guardian\Weaponmaster with these as my planned starting stats

Stats

Str 14
Dex 14
Con 14
Int 8
Wis 14
Chr 14

I am going to have persuade on both character and more skills on the Kotor II character because of how many paths it opens and you can't solely on your party as much in that game.

Doesn't KOTOR I automatically act as if you have Weapon Finesse while the PC is using a lightsaber? Could have sworn I saw that somewhere.
Those are some good builds. If going the Soldier/Guardian route, I would not add so much to Dexterity IMHO. You will be able to wear heavy armor, which will negate most of the need for the DEX Armor Bonus, and STR is good for your Attack Rolls and Damage bonus once you acquire your lightsaber.
