Hassat_Hunter: That'll be GOG's work
Which is an unnecessary responsibility for them. If people want to get TSLRCM, it's easily available anyway. Why should GOG need to provide it?

Well they don't need to, but maybe they should anyway because it'd be excellent customer service.

I wouldn't go as far as to suggest gog should only offer the modded product.
But in this and a few other games, they could mirror host a few "essential" mods.
Just clearly mark them as mods, optional, not official whatever.

And no, I wouldn't call tslrm essential. At least not the version I played a year (or two?) ago.
Good and neat, but... it's the same as with Fallout 2 restoration. The added stuff isn't necessarily of same quality as the rest.

BTW, does the mod come with "just the bug fixes" option (like fallout restoration, or Co8 for ToEE)?
Because that's something I'd recommend for everybody as minimum.

Got to strongly disagree with you there. Perhaps you should give it another go. Most of the changes are throughout. A new line here, a new scene there. Nothing stands out as like a sore thumb in my eyes.

I think you should read his post again. You clearly didn't follow it.

What I would really like is a checkbox on the installer. Letting people know that it exists, is recommended, while still giving people the freedom to do what they want. Will it happen? Probably not.

Yes, I did. But you're free to clarify and point out the part that you assume I didn't follow.
His possible fault was using the pronoun "it" which you assumed TLRSCM. But in context with the statement before, that the game.exe is never touched, he was talking about the game.exe, which IS Gog's job to maintain.

I "assume" this is the part your mind skipped for your statement to make sense. It's ok, It happens to the best of us when we become over zealous in our arguments.

He is saying TLSRCM isn't even relevant for the problem of future compatibility.

One of these days I will. There was a new significant version coming?
The added little bits are fine. But (at least when I played it) stuff like that robot base and HK's solo run there...
Well... it wasn't bad as such, but not a particular highlight either.

Much like that other robots... ehh.. the r2-d2 one, his solo run in that warehouse.
Original content, but not something I really want to replay.
Well not every moment is the best. If I have to play through peragus one more time I might scream. XD

There is a new version that just came out 1.8.3b plus a new M4-78EP version which I find interesting but I haven't managed to slog my way through the game yet to play through.

This M4-78EP mod is only playable with the English version of KotOR 2.
Can perhaps someone briefly explain what actual difference causes this? This would be very much appreciated.

Hassat_Hunter would know, but you probably would have been better making your own thread for this.
Thanks, well, I guess Hassat_Hunter will read this sooner or later.

As stated, we don't touch the engine... AT ALL. Any compatibility with future operating systems aren't affected wheter you have TSLRCM or just TSL.
BTW, does the mod come with "just the bug fixes" option (like fallout restoration, or Co8 for ToEE)?

Nope, KOTOR doesn't really like being partitioned. Not to mention a lot of 'restored content' IS bugfixes (The Telos sidequest Corrun Falt being the most prominent example, or a scene after leaving Atris if she survived)... so where does one draw the line?

Exactly.

And I'm not quite sure, Zbyl does the translation stuff. But from what I can tell .dlg files have a nationality attached to them. A converter was suggested in the past to get around it, but that never really fixed all the issues, and usually got people's game stuck.
It's been a long time since I played KotorII vanilla. But If I recall correctly, the entire Influence mechanic was completely broken. leading to play troughs of the game that would never let you get to much of the content already in the game when talking to your party members...not without cheating...

I heard the biggest problem was that the game just felt unfinished which is kind of ambiguous but still a complaint I heard a lot of.

The only member for which it was really hard to get influence was Mandalore. He had few placed points (pretty much all on Onderon) and the random influence dialog for him was bugged IIRC aswell.
The rest you really only need to know what to do, and some are insanely easy (Visas, Handmaiden and Disciple can pretty much be maxxed in one conversation).
