I find that something is pulling the focus away from KOTOR I and II when it starts. What I mean is that the game stops being an active window and control is passed back to the GOG launcher.

I have a workaround: I force a modal prompt to come up when I right click the game and select Close Window. A modal prompt forces Windows to make KOTOR (I or II) the active window again.

I'd rather not install hacks or cracks to fix this. I am willing to run the game in a Window instead of fullscreen. Any suggestions?

The movies take focus when the execute. I had a problem where the movies would restart (sometimes more than a dozen times) and this was fixed (after a problem ticket solution from Gog) with the KotOR.INI file updated as per the article:
