Just downloaded the game, and just like the title crashes after the character creation screen. I'm not sure what to do, I've tried putting the two files in the same folder, I've tried reinstalling. Please help.

A lot of us had that. There is a quick download fix, the problem is I forgot which of these threads the link is in. :P

Give me a sec. :D

Here:
http://wikisend.com/download/358216/swkotor2.exe
Take it out of the package and replace the old swkotor2.exe with this one. You'll obviously want to make a copy of the old one first and place it in a temp folder in case this doesn't work. FYI there are other solutions, just comb the KOTOR forum for them.

Which game, the first or the second? If it's the second, download the file tinyE is indicating and disable movies. If it's the first disable movies.

I've never heard of the 1st one crashing at character creation. Hmmmmm.

As for the movies that's touch and go. I needed the new exe for my last and this computer but only needed to disable movies for my last one.
Try disabling Frame Buffer Effects before start pulling out or altering files...

This didn't work for me. File scanner kept coming up malicious and won't download...which I'm assuming is a good thing. Thoughts?

It's not even an AV, it's just google. stops the download every time.

Well that's a first for me; I've never even heard of someone else having that problem.

If it makes you feel safer I'm sure someone else will come along shortly to confirm it's not malicious.

ha, oh well. I've been at this trying to get kotor2 working for a few days and nothing I've done seems to work. From patches to editing .ini files to drivers. nada, boom. Wish I still had my old pc...

SOMEONE will help, don't worry. :D I know it sucks if you want to play it this second but hold on a bit and someone way smarter than me will be around eventually and solve your problem.
I never had this problem, so I can't help you specifically with that, but altering your installation with files from unknown sources should always be the very last try.

First of all, make sure you checked everything from this site.
Disabling the movies, shadows and Frame Buffer Effects often helps.

There are many more tips and tricks to be found here in the forum, I'd recommend a thorough look through it.

You should install TSLRCM as well, for it fixes quite a bit of bugs and enhances the game overall anyway.
Actually, asked GOG for another .exe file. Looked through the one they sent me and it included a few extra things that weren't in the original. Placed it straight into the sw-kotor2 file and boom, everything works, no glitches, all movies. Not sure what it did, but works for me.

Nice that it works for you now, but I don't think this link is meant to be spread to anyone.
