The only Star Wars games (besides old arcade games) that I've played are KOTOR 1&2. I'm familiar with the lore but thats about it. I'm not a huge fan of the universe like some people.

That being said would you guy recommend this title and its followup for someone like me? Is the gameplay itself enough to hold it up?

Depends if you like action games. This one focus mostly on lightsabre fights, because unlike (from what I heard) Katarn games, where you recieved one later on, here you have it from the start. So basically you are just a murder-machine until you find another user. And this is where the fun mostly is - sabre fights. For some time Jedi Academy was very popular and it's combat system was adapted to other games, like Blade Symphony.

So if the game is discounted I would say yes - it's not entirely easy, but quite rewarding, a bit of showy (if you make it that way). I enjoyed it.
And why wait for discount? Becase Summer Sale, so there is a chance it will be bundled or sold separatly, so it's even better - smaller loss if you don't like it.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! At a certain point in the game your computer will crash no matter what. It's the same gamebreaking bug found on the steam port. Do not buy!

The game just work fine for me. The original CD versio, as well the freshly bought GOG version has no problems at all.
