I bought EAW Gold from GOG recently, and I want to mod some Forces of Corruption elements, but I can't find the FoC data files anywhere. I have the original EaW data files, and I can play the FoC expansion, but I can't find the FoC data files either manually or using the search function. I have also checked the standard EaW xml files to see whether any FoC stuff was buried in there, but that turned up nothing.

Does anybody know where the FoC files go on the GOG version of EaW, or what name they are filed under?

They should just be in the FOC folder. At least, as far as I remember.
If you need FoC XML files, they are here, updated for patch 1.1: https://www.gamefront.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war-forces-of-corruption/file/foc-xmls

Thank you. I wonder if you can help me a little more though, because there are several things I don't understand.

1) Why don't the FoC xml files appear anywhere on my current install (did it again fresh from GoG today), and why isn't there a FoC folder?

2) Is the GoG Download patch 1.1 already, or do I need to get that update elsewhere?

3) How do I integrate the xml files you've linked to with FoC as there is no FoC folder, or any current FoC data files?

Your help is much appreciated.

The XML files aren't meant to lay bare in the game's directory. Most of the game's relevant data is in the .meg files, which you can open with the OS Big Editor.

BTW the expansion's directory is called EAWX, not FOC.

It is patched to v1.1.
Thank you PW, you've been a great help.

I'm really sorry to keep bothering you, but something weird is happening that I just can't explain. I used the editor to unpack the HARDPOINTS_UNDERWORLD.xml, I then converted it to notepad to edit it, changed the lasers on the Interceptor Frigate to Mass Drivers, re-converted it back to xml, copied it into the editor, deleted the original file, and saved. When I tried to launch the game it crashed, I went back to the editor to look at the file, and for some reason a whole bunch of text from the GAME_CONSTANTS.xml had been copied onto the start of it. That text definitely hadn't been there when I checked the file again just before saving and launching the game, and this keeps happening.

Have I misunderstood how to use the editor? What's going on?

Sorry, but I haven't modded Empire at War in any capacity so far, I only keep a large personal archive of the official releases for many games (including the XMLs I linked to you) and I was aware of the tool used because it's primarily used for the Command & Conquer games that I have a lot more experience in.

What I can tell you is that you can ask for help on the Petrolution subforum at Revora.
Thank you again.
