Hey all, playing Dark Forces II for the first time and I'm having some pretty bad screen tearing. I read that V-sync is on by default so I tried to force it through nvidia control panel but no luck. Any ideas?

Unfortunately only way to get rid of the screen tearing is to use a graphics wrapper. You can find three options at: http://jkdf2.com/23-step-6-3d-acceleration-fixes-directx-wrappers-optional-depends-on-your-graphics-card-and-operating-system , the one I use is DGVoodoo2

Also you most certainly need to limit your FPS to 47. If you go higher than that, the game runs at forced 30 fps. You can limit your framerate with nVidia Inspector, RivaTuner Statistics Server, DxTory etc. etc. It's up to you what you like to use.

I hope these tips help. You can find additional information from the stickied threads at the top of the page.

Strange GOG is selling this game in an unplayable state from the get go. This is not the GOG i usually adore and love. I thought only Steam sold games older games where the user have manage things by himself.
Well, the GOG version is in a lot better shape than the Steam version out of the box. Unfortunately there is so much even GOG team can do. Of course GOG team could do a new patch which would give the user different wrappers to choose from and some sort of hard coded fps limit for the game engine. Although I have no idea if implementing a fps limit for this game is even possible without external programs.

Slightly harsh. The guys at GoG are good, but not perfect; they can't make something that works perfectly on absolutely every system without any tweaking. It's also a bit of an exaggeration to say that screen tearing renders something "unplayable".

More importantly, did the tips help?
