Hi, I am using dgVooDoo to enable 3d hardware in DF2 and it works but it only gives me 320x240 resolution. Is there something else I need to do for this to work with higher resolutions? Thanks.

No, it should work out of the box. Can you post screenshots of JK's display options and advanced display options?

To enable advanced display options create a batch file with this content:

jk.exe -displayconfig
I'll put up some screens right away but how do you make a batch file? I'm not sure what it is.
It's just a text file with the ".txt" ending replaced by ".bat". You can launch it like an exe.

Here are the screens, 3 from clean install, 3 with dgVooDoo, and one of my df2 folder. And just to clarify I'm not using the ultimate patch, just dgVooDoo2.44.

Weird. Did you make any changes to the dgvoodoo settings?

What happens when you replace dgvoodoo with this wrapper?

But be warned, loading times will probably increase significantly.
I don't think I changed anything, I'm using dgVooDoo for other stuff though. some screens of my settings from the df2 folder. I'll try those files right now.

Using those files 3d was enabled in all the resolutions, but when I started a mission the screen stayed black and only the music playing. It locked up and I had to shut down.

Usually it only appears to lock up, it just takes a long time to load while showing a black screen.

Anyway I installed my GOG version of JK and had exactly the same problem with dgvoodoo until I went all the way back to 2.41. Now all resolutions were available but the game crashed every time I tried to load a level.

The solution was downloading the Steam fix from here:
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight_%E2%80%93_Dark_Forces_II#Mods_and_Steam_version
(I only copied the exe, not JK.CD)
It works even with 2.44.

PS: Isn't Mysteries of the Sith supposed to be included? It didn't install with JK and there's only a download link for the Mac version in my library.

Edit: Refreshing my account fixed it.

So just to make sure this patch doesn't change the base game correct? it just modifies the exe. so 3d works?

P.S. beat me to the refresh thing, thought I could be the one to be helpful for once lol.

It's a replacement for JK.exe. The modifications GOG did to the game will be missing but so far I didn't run into any problems. It's probably a good idea to make a backup of JK.exe first. 3D acceleration still requires dgVoodoo.

BTW I informed the developer of dgVoodoo about the missing resolutions, hopefully he'll come up with a fix.

I tried it out and it seems to work perfectly, you sir have been very helpful, thanks!

BTW I'm just curious what modifications does gog exe. version have? also is there something like this for mots? I didnt see anything on that page.

I don't know exactly what they did but there are definitely changes. With every other game version on Windows 7 (and presumably Vista) you have to make the menus run in a window or the game will crash and (at least on AMD GPUs) you have to mess with driver files or wrappers to enable 3D acceleration. Both works out of the box for me on the GOG version.

I couldn't find a replacement exe for MotS so you'll probably have to use the Ultimate patch till dgVoodoo is fixed.

Ok, so I guess the ultimate patch just changes things for 3d to run and doesn't add anything else? Just want to play the original :). Again thanks a lot.

One more thing where can I find the dev of dgVooDoo?

No idea what the ultimate patch changes, never used it.
