Has anyone had an issue where the game has bound forward and back movement to the mouse? Is there any way to change it?

Tried ctrl+f1 but all that did was crash the game
Hi guys, I am running Dark Forces on Win8.1 32bit version on notebook and the game runs without problems except for that no matter what i try to change in settings, I do not see the crosshair AND what is worse, mouse view does not work, even though I turned off bindings to mouse move (which was the default setting in Launch Settings). DosBox remap via Ctrl+F1 works, but I do not see any effect on the mouse. Thanks for help...
Cross-hair? Ha! You expect too much from a Dos-based FPS game. ;)

Yeah, there is no cross-hair--the game auto-aims somewhat for you by default if you're pointed close to an enemy. There's also no mouse-look. Keys can be remapped via the settings program in the game folder, but you'll have to get used to using the keyboard to look up and down.

I find the best set-up is to bind forward, backward, and right & left strafing to WSAD, and then use E and R for looking up and down--it's not ideal, but it's all within reach without having to change hand positions. Make sure to turn off forward and backward movement on the mouse though, and keep right and left turning bound to the mouse. You can use the mouse buttons and the Space bar for things like jump, crouch, and interact. It takes a little getting used to, but it's about as comfortable as you can get with an old game like this, in my opinion.
I use GlovePIE to bind the right mouse button to alternate fire. This makes fighting Dark Troopers an awesome experience with the correct weapon. The mouse wheel I bind to look up and down.

You can actually set up a proper mouse-look based on the Y-axis movement of the mouse itself using the same program. See this thread for specific instructions. It's easy and works like a charm.

You just need to make sure you disable the backward and forward mouse bindings in the Dark Forces setup program, otherwise it'll conflict.

I posted about the Dark Forces control setup a few months ago.

A combination of Dark Forces key bindings, the DOSBox keymapper utility and GlovePIE to give a much more modern control setup. Got a lot of my info from the Steam discussion forums where the game was available for quite some time before GOG managed to get it.
