i just bought the game yesterday and when i loaded it up the game ran fine up until i could actually start playing ,where there is no picture at all (although you can hear sound fine).

i did have a quick look online for a solution and there is mention of disable 3d fx in the menu but i cannot find anything saying that in the display settings (only something about 3d texture size then a 1 in the box next to it) no disable 3d texture tick or box in the menu.

any idea how to sort this out at all?

something strange happened. the game seems to have fixed itself sort of. ( i use the jk shortcut to load the game).

i can now select the 3d accelerator option (actually see it now in the display menu) and the game doesn't now go to a black screen when it loads.

the trouble is that i cannot see my hud in the game.

but tbh i am just happy that the game is finally actually playable.

may well have a look at some mods for the game but nothing too high tech as my laptop is a very low powered intel hd graphics el cheapo laptop. but it runs all these classic games (well when they work lol).

This game is a bit of a pain to get running with 3d acceleration and the hud, though it is possible! I think there is a sticky that explains how - you have to patch the .exe and I think add a new .dll or something. In terms of turning off 3d acceleration in the settings, go to setup>display>enable 3d acceleration.
