Hi there guys, was thinking about potentially buying this since it's on sale right now, but was wondering if the programs like Gameranger that allow you to play multiplayer (despite the official servers being offline) would permit people with a GOG copy of the game and a Steam copy of the game to play together?

If Steam didn't removed the direc IP option for connection then you can play without any trouble.
