I have not been able to find an answer to this question. I would love to jump in to the gog / steam multiplayer without having to buy a new copy, but I wont "kill the messenger" if someone tells me truthfully that that is impossible.

Is it possible to play on the gog / steam online servers using my original copy of the game? (Yes, I have the DVD-Rom and License key intact)

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer!

you probably did this already but did you try contacting the gog support? I don't think you'll get an answer otherwise

I never really used their support so I don't know how to tell you how to use it, you'll have to look that up yourself

you could try this but battlefront 2 isn't listed

Thanks for the suggestions, I just reached out to the support team, I'll post here when I get an answer. I also tried the "reclaim" feature, but it did not work...
Below is and excerpt from the official response to my support ticket:

"Hello,
I am afraid that these servers are only for the GOG and Steam versions of the game specifically.
Unfortunately it is not possible to register any non-GOG version of this game on our service.
I apologise for the inconvenience."

Thanks for the suggestion to contact support, now we have a definitive answer!
i am working on a fix for non gog/steam exe but i need to know what the server host address is. might be able to do an unofficial workaround.

You can make use of SWBF2 masterserver still.
You do have a legal copy of the game, make full use of it.

What is the Star Wars Battlefront 2 "masterserver" you are referring to?

Are you sure that gog would be okay with that? After all, they said that the servers are for "GOG and Steam versions of the game specifically."

I would be extremely disappointed if the GOG team prevent someone modding a game he-she bought once (even if not on GOG.com). After all what he want to do is nothing more than replacing the old primary connection address with a new one. Even my knowledge of hexadecimal editing would be enough to do that, except it would take ages for me to find the right strings. I wish mg0521 can do that, it may increase the game's popularity.

It is a gamespy replacement that is made by the community of the game. Mostly EU based people are there.

I don't know GOG that well, technically it is their server, but you may be right in saying that they would be fine with it, I don't know.

For starters, working around the issue would technically be illegal, and I doubt GOG wants people running around sapping their income through piracy.

All I will tell you is that in previous versions of the game, the master server address is located in the main executable inside the GameData folder, however, GOG encrypted that file.

And there is the DRM free distribution, rest in peace. It is more than disappointing.
