This seemed to work for me - pretty much out of the box! https://www.gog.com/forum/star_trek_starfleet_command_iii/all_in_one_upgrade_mod_32_working_with_gog_sfc_3 -- in case someone else wants to try and alternative.

QuietNate: So the game will run but you will soon notice that the camera is broken when the side panels are enabled (which it needs to be unless you have every keybind memorized). You will see that when you click on the screen to turn the ship that the camera is offset by a few hundred pixels and clicking where you would expect to just result in a small turn results in a huge one. You can fix this by pressing 'D' to hide the panel which will now allow you to click properly but you then have to bring the panel back up to do anything else. This makes it incredibly frustrating to try and play the game. Doesn't look like they really playtested this before release.

I've tried the widescreen patches released in years past but they either do nothing or just crash the game, which isn't surprising as they weren't ever made to work on this release.
This is solved via the hotfix that just came out.

SkillerShadow: At least I have been discussing ( for one email ) with the customer support at GoG and they suggested the basic debug options; and I also did my own testing with different configurations:

DX Wrapper options to:
Display mode - same as desktop (default) // set by application // 1920x1080 60 Hz.
Scaling method - Screen fit (default) and Integer scaling.
* Note about scaling method - I have combined this with editing the scaling from Nvidia Control Panel as well Nvidia Control Panel -> Adjust desktop size and position -> Scaling -> and I went through all options - Aspect Ratio, Full-Screen, No scaling, Integer Scaling -- and even enabled "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs".

Outside of the DX Wrapper, I also tried with G-Sync enabled and disabled as well.

In SFC.ini - I have also changed the [Mouse] configuration from async = 1 to 0 and back.

I have done all of my testing with a single monitor enabled at 1920x1080 running at 60Hz.

Unfortunately the only viable workaround is to press "D" in-game to remove the side UI and then switch around to access it.

Late last night I tried with the other monitor unplugged as well and no luck.

The best thing to come out of this is that I learned how to setup up a virtual machine with Windows XP :D

As well, if you are in combat and press Esc quickly a few times, you'll be able to notice that the ships are actually less wide in that screen than the "normal" view.

marlowe221: Yeah, I've noticed that too.

Unfortunately, not having the control panel makes the game difficult to play. And I actually know most of the key binds by heart for this series!
you dont need a widescreen patch or anything liek that. Just go to the home page for the game on GOG app, then go to the little lines next to the pay button, then go to additional executables, DirectX settings then diable "aspect ratio"

Worked for me, i now play in full screenw ith 1440p monitor ;-)

the latest patch they released sorts the ship not being centered issue.
