Game crashes after intro movie. GOG told me to use Software mode and it still doesn't work.

Windows 7.
Same thing here. Tried both software and d3d mode.
Same here. Video card is a GeForce 650 TI, and running primary display driver, software, or the named card does not work at all.
Same here as well. Win 7 64bit.
Game crashes right after the intro movie.

Win 7 64 Bit here.

After lots of digging through forum archives, I got it to work (in software mode only) by doing the following:

For each of the 3 non-GOG applications in the file folder, set compatibility to Windows 2000 (!!!), Disable Desktop Composition, Disable Visual Themes, Run as Administrator.

If you haven't already, run config and set the game to softwaer mode and 800x600.

Edit sfc.ini to change windowed=0 to windowed=1.

Run the game by double-clicking on the Starfleet application, bypassing the intro movies.

You'll know it worked if you see the race selection shields pop up.

If someone can get this to work in NON software mode, I'll be very happy, but at least now it's playable.

mine was going the same thing, but i found out that a combination of programs on my computer were the cause. both my kodak printer status monitor and the status monitor for advance system care, were pulling the game out of focus making it minimize. I just shut those down and im finaly able to get past the intro movie

also after doing that, I don't have to run it under software render

I can't get the game to load at all either. I tried Compat. Mode and set it for Win2000 on all the .exe files but none of them run. :( Is there any other way to make the game work?
