Here I post some of the informations I have collected over time, which a new player may find useful.

Playing the game
For the CD version you need the 1.25 unofficial patch, but I'm of course not sure how it will be with the gog version. So, just in case you will find below the link for the patch.

Recording problems with 2 screens.
The vanilla version of the game doesn't like a multi-monitor setup, so disable the other monitors. Next set your Desktop resolution to 1280x960. The same resolution you have to use in your recording software like obs.

How to play online
Since the shutdown of all the Gamespy servers, it's no longer possible to play the multiplayer mode without some help. Thankfully, like Armada, it also has LAN support, which you can play via a VPN-client like Radmin or Zerotier.
