Hello all,

I found this wonderful game again on GOG. Been working really well for me on Windows 10 pro. A couple crashes every now and then but still fun.

My question is how do I get the old maps to work? Is that even possible?

I dropped a couple zipped files in the addon folder to no avail. Dropped in a couple to the .bzn and they old maps still will not load.

Any workaround for this? Or am I doing something wrong?

Should be no problem, as long as the maps are A1 maps and technically OK. Usually they consist of three files, a bzn, a mdf and a bmp. The latter is optional. And they are supposed to be placed inside the addon folder. So if they do not work from there, then something seems to be phony about them.

I have to delete the image file of an edited map in order to avoid crashing the game when the map is selected.

Any custom maps I add to the bzn folder cause the game to crash. First no preview is shown after selecting the map in Instant Action and it shows spots for 8 players, none of which can be selected, regardless of how many the map supports. When launching it loads for a split second (the progress bar moves about half an inch), pops into a blank map, then about 2 seconds later it crashes out to the end of mission stats.

No matter which maps I download, or ones I have saved from playing the game ages ago, the same thing happens.

Try deleting the map image file.

I have all the old Maps. If you join us on Game ranger I can give you some.
