I've only tested this in the Sandbox. I'm working on a Carrier and it won't auto-attack enemy ships that enter it's attack range. Enemy ships can even fire on it, destroy it's supports, and damage it's hull, and it will sit there, with it's supports in a resting formation, not attacking the enemy.

The Carrier has a fleet computer with a long raiding range (over 2000u) and the supports have ammo stores. They are set to use a raiding behavior. They will raid if I tell the Carrier to attack a ship, but if I don't order the Carrier to attack they won't raid and will sit in place doing nothing if they get attacked by any enemy ships. Which is weird, because the Carrier itself has the options set to attack enemies in system, close in on enemies, and enter raiding range.

The behavior I want, and was expecting to see, is that when an enemy ships comes within it's fleet computer range (2000u) all the Carrier's supports would automatically move to raid the enemy ship.

This is sad, because my carrier uses a control computer and solar panels, and is meant to be a defensive ship that sits next to a star and sends it's supports out to attack enemy ships that come close. Unfortunately with this type of behavior it wouldn't work in practice.

Is this a bug because the Carriers themselves don't have weapons, or is it intended? If it's intended is there any chance that supports could be changed to auto-raid any enemies in range? Even if it's an option I could toggle on and off? This would make my design much more practical than it is right now.

Thanks for your time.

hi, I haven't played herald yet, and since I will soon, I want to know too as this seems like a viable setup.

I have heard that ships without weapons can be considered a civilian ship. (regardless of the tech upgrade that gives them more hp)

So maybe try flak cannons, or something. There was a bugfix that made flak cannons count toward not being civ.

Although I don't KNOW if that is the problem or not. just suggestion. I'll probably be looking into it when i play heralds though.
