I know ion storms are supposed to disrupt sensors along with ship functions but the last two times I have encountered one my entire game ui has basically disappeared, I was wondering if that is an intended feature or a bug. I have attached a screenshot of what I mean. The commands appear as I highlight/select them or they become active (when I pause time the white mission timer flashes) or when I use < > to scroll though options at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise the screen flickers with whatever part of it has motion.

I have to navigate through memory of the commands, the other time it happened I went into orbital control and then back out which seemed to reset the screen back to normal. In the example picture I posted I successfully captured the starliner but the menu still has not come back yet.

Edit: Saving, quitting and reloading the game doesn't fix it, my screen still looks the same as the attached picture.

Thanks so much, I'll pass this on!
Your image is typical of insufficient memory for one of the overlays. I would try going to the internal defense screen in Security Control and then exit it. The main Bridge display should be back to normal. If not, then you have a damaged file in the game and I would try downloading it again. Let us know if any of this helps or not.

My save file might have gotten corrupted some how, I went to the internal defense screen and it did not work, I also verified the game through gog and I even reinstalled the game but when loading the save file the screen was still blue.

I traveled to another system, went into orbit of a planet and tried the security control trick and this time it worked and my main bridge display is back to normal.

Do you know of a way to prevent something like this from happening in the future?
The problem is due to a memory clobber. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the game (I am searching for possible causes) or due to settings that may have to be adjusted. The saved game data is definitely corrupted and if you have it working properly now, you should definitely save it again. Let me know if it happens again and try to remember what you did just before it happened.
