hello all,

sorry for the noob question but first game I've ever downloaded from anywhere and I'm already stuck.

I was excited to see star control 1 - a game from my high school years - for sale here so started an account and purchased.

looked at the faq and gave the disk permission as requested but now I just get a 'cannot be opened.'

thanks for any pointers!

probably best I didn't get it to open tonight or I wouldn't sleep! :)

Themken: Windows or MacOS or Linux/GNU? Offline installer or Galaxy?
hello! thanks so much for answering...

Sorry: Mac OSX 12.3.1 and I believe I tried both
Galaxy (which kept shutting itself down saying it couldn't connect after multiple tries) and
the offline installer (which at first said couldn't be opened until I saw the FAQ and gave the permission) and now the file is just saying can't be opened.

Thanks again - super glad someone in the world is willing to help!

I guess I should have asked you which game you are trying to play. This subforum is for all Star Control games.

If you have one of those new Macs with an ARM processor, you may have to do some work in order to get the games working but my understanding is that there is at least a working DOSBox version for it.

As a rule, you do not buy a Mac to play games but it is not impossible and a lot of games should be possible to play, I hear.
