Greetings fellow captains,

I am an experienced player of The Ur-Quan Masters and now I finally made up my mind to experience SC3 even if I know it is not from the original Star Control developers Paul Reich III and Fred Ford, who are currently developing their own sequel to replace SC3, I still want to experience SC3 at least once because Accolade chose Legend Entertainment to develop SC3 because those claimed they were big fans of SC2 so I want to test for myself how much love and respect they actually had expressed in SC3 and so far, I encountered 3 unforgivable design choices that no fan would make:

1) How could they possibly look at their mechanical puppets and decide that this was an upgrade from the lovingly hand-drawn graphics of SC2?!?
I mean, seriously, the first thing which caught my eyes, much to my regret, when I started SC3 is how unspeakably ugly the mechanical puppets than Legend Entertainment chose to use to replace the lovingly hand-drawn graphics of SC2 look!

2) When you claim that you are fan of something, you don't want to change everything to make this something unrecognizable. However that's what Legend Entertainment did. They pushed the insult to not respect any original design, they changed everything, the Spathi were green, now they are pink, the Syreen were alluring, now they are disgusting, the Vux were military, now they look and talk like hippies, they were green, now they are red, the Mycon were big white fungus, now they are tiny pink flowers, the Orz were green fishes with beaks, now they are yellow fishes with beaks and acne, the Pkunk looked crazy, now they look zen, the Arilou were disco green men with yellow eyes, now they almost look humans, to sum it up, Legend Entertainment claimed to be big fans of SC2 and yet they didn't respect any of the original designs, they changed everything according to THEIR OWN designs, why not create a new game from scratch then, if you don't want to keep anything from the original?

3) The voices are not even close to the standards of SC2.
When I play The Ur-Quan Masters, it is a treat to listen to every dialogue because every character has a strong personality conveyed by voice-acting full of passion and expressing a wide range of emotions.
In SC3, voices are bland, monotonous, lacking personality and emotions, everyone sound the same, from people who claimed to be fans of the original, such performance is unacceptable, or should be...

No one who claimed that they were fans of SC2 would ever want to make such design changes which make the original work unrecognizable! If you want to change everything then create your own universe, don't take someone else's universe and change everything then claim that you made it unrecognizable because you loved it as it was, this is hypocrite!

However I'm rather enjoying the story so far, this is the strong point of the game in my opinion, but I'm still at the beginning, let's see if I keep enjoying it to the end.
Honestly, if you mod SC3, you replace the awful mechanical puppets by awesome hand-drawn graphics like those of The Ur-Quan Masters and you get some real fans of Star Control to remake the voice-acting with passion, then you might make SC3 a decent game.

Anyway this was just to explain why I'm playing SC3, now the question that I need an answer because I'm losing my cool is: HOW THE HELL ESCAPE BATTLES IN SC3?!? I tried to press Escape and basically every key on my keyboard, I read the game manual, I searched Internet and I DIDN'T FIND ANY ANSWER, ISN'T THAT CRAZY?!?
Not even the damn game manual bothers to explain how to escape battles!
Is there any experienced SC3 player here who could answer the question?
