Hi all,

We have uploaded a multiplayer update for all three STALKER games. Please download the multiplayer update ASAP at your earliest convenience.

This multiplayer update moves the multiplayer from GameSpy to GSC Game World's multiplayer servers. Keep in mind that each game needs to be patched separately :)

If you have any problems or issues with installing the patch, please write to Support :)

Would using these patches screw up any mods you have installed, like the "COMPLETE" mods or MISERY? Are they only compatible with the vanilla Stalker games?
My understanding is that almost all mods break multiplayer by default and you basically need to use vanilla stalker to use multiplayer. Stalker to me has never felt like a mulitplayer game, so I have never tried it.

The update seems to just be a separate installer, I do not know if the main game installer from GOG contains it. Cant imagine there is any need for it if you do not play multiplayer.

AFAIK, no, as they only touch upon the multiplayer aspect of the game :)

The main installers don't contain the multiplayer update as of right now :)

How about Rise Of The Triad (2013)? Will the installer for that ever be updated to the latest version, or must people forever be forced to download an additional 1.2GB patch? I (and others) asked the same question in the relevant thread more than a week ago, but since you still haven't answered it (and the installer still isn't updated) I figured I might as well ask it here too.

We'll update them as soon as we can, sorry about the wait.

Well, it's been more than two months. I'm sorry to say it, but you don't seem to be in much of a hurry to do so.

As always, "you" in this context means GOG, and not you personally ;-)

I understand :)

As I said, we'll do it when we can but there's a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff going on, which I, unfortunately, can't really discuss :/

I get that. I know you have a lot of stuff going on at the moment, but you can't just let your normal business slide downhill to free up resources for an, as yet hypothetical, future expansion of said business. I for one will be loath to buy any more games here in the foreseeable future if the official company policy at the moment is "we don't have time to support the products we sell right now, sorry".
Is a similar update going to happen with ither GOG games? I heard that a lot of them (like Painkiller: Black and Neverwinter Nights) have that problem of being associated with Gamespy. I do hope they will be updated too.

I sense... the disturbance in the Force.
No, really, something´s brewing on at GOG :)

This update only changes xrGameSpy.dll so it won't affect anything else.

That's up to the individual developers or publishers. This S.T.A.L.K.E.R. update is being released because GSC have set up their own replacement servers for their games; most games are simply being abandoned.

Some games are being updated for certain versions, e.g. Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead is being updated on Steam only; GOG product keys for Arma 2 activate on Steam so you can get that update that way.

LAN modes and direct IP connections will continue working as usual without GameSpy (most games using GameSpy also support these features).

"Boo hoo I need to download a separate update. I won't support you anymore".

It's not like they're refusing to fix a broken game, they just haven't released an all in one patch yet. They have limited resources and will get to it when they don't have more important shit to do.

And when will that be? You don't know.

What exactly is it they're doing that is much more important than supporting the products people actually pay them for? You don't know.

What exactly was your point, other than lashing out like a schoolyard bully against someone directing fair and constructive criticism towards the object of your blind fanboyism? I don't think anybody knows the answer to that one.

Lol "schoolyard bully", nice one. Ok here we go:

1. When? I don't know, when it's done.
2. What? I don't know, do you really need to be told? Is their word not good enough for you? Do you think they're lying to keep you from your all in one patch?
3. "Blind fanboyism"? Piss off dude, criticism is fine. Right now I'm critiquing your complaint.

I'm not against criticism of GOG but like I said, it's not like the product is broken, you just want them to make an all in one patch which is understandable. GOG say they are on it but are busy with other stuff and that is not good enough for you.

Sorry but what is the major issue here which needs immediate action? You need to download a patch? OMG THE HORROR!!!

You are acting like a child. You want something now and because you are not getting it you are having a bit of a moan.

I take it you are the kind of person who wanted their money back for Broken Sword 5 because Revolution missed their "estimated" release date for part 2 and couldn't give a definitive answer on when it would be ready. I could be wrong, just an observation.
