So I just only recently started playing Clear Sky after playing the other two for 100+ hours each and it's kind of hard to get involved in the game when having issues like this.

Basically it seems that after a random amount of time the game will just freeze and I'll have to kill it through the task manager. There's no crash log or anything because it's not crashing. I had a similar issue when first starting where the game would freeze right after exiting the first building and looking left, which I fixed. What was causing it is that I moved the appdata folder where save games and stuff are held into the game folder, through the fsgame.ltx file that is. When setting both values for that as true the freeze was there but changing the first one back to false fixed the issue. I'm wondering if these freezes could be potentially caused by me moving the folder into the game folder but I'd rather not have to bother with moving it back if there are other causes.

I'm using Sky Reclamation Project with almost all the options and the fov raiser.

Specs:
i5 4670k
GTX 970
8GB RAM
Win 7 64 bit

I removed the Windows update that causes issues with DX10 and 11 games already so that's not the problem. Does this game have issues with Afterburner? Because I'm using that. Disabling it didn't seem to help but maybe I have to entirely close it.

Edit: Tried playing with Afterburner closed and it froze after like 15 minutes.

should have just never bought clear sky ;)
Are you playing in DX10? Apparently that causes a crash.
Whoops, entirely forgot that I made this thread. Anyway I just tried playing it again and moved the config files back to their default location in case that was an issue and it's still freezing at points. It is being recorded in the event viewer but there's no real useful information. Maybe I will try running it in DX9. Having some eye candy off is better than not playing the game.

As for just not buying Clear Sky, I've already played SoC and CoP to death and wanted something new. The game itself isn't bad and at least plays similarly so that's good.

you did the right thing leaving it until last - though its worth it then to experience the red forest and the other new areas. :)

as to the crash, been a long time since I played CS and I remember having the issue on occasion. I think it was caused by the electro anomalies being set off in the swamp and I had to mod it - cannot for the life of me remember the mod though.
