Hi

I just want to get some advice on whether there are any advantages to playing the GOG version over the disc copy I also own? Obviously GOG is well known for making games run better on modern machines, and Call of Pripyat is one of those games that often needs some work to get running smoothly.

Recently I installed CoP from disc and I added the "Multi-Patch" and the "4GB Patch". If I installed the GOG version would I need to patch the game with these again or are these fixes included in the GOG build? And are there any other advantages to using the GOG version over the disc version (other bug fixes, etc)?

Thank you

I expect using the GOG version you would probably have to re-apply both the mutliplayer update and a so called 4GB patch, (applying one of those 4GB patches on something that has already had it applied will cause no harm at all).

As for advantages of the GOG version, unless they haven't yet removed the DRM from the disc version (I can't remember anymore) that's about the only advantage of the GOG version, if your disc version is working fine I wouldn't bother. If it's not broken don't fix it.

Okay thanks, appreciate your response
I remember that the GOG version is also capped at 60 FPS, but somewhere here they had the uncapped files for those with higher 120 or 144 monitors...since these games are almost single CPU bound it would be hard for modern PC to get to that FPS but still

One major advantage - you dont wear out / scratch the disc when using the GOG version.
