I’ve waited years for Stalker 2, hoping for a game that would capture the magic of its predecessors. Instead, even after multiple updates, it still feels half baked. The performance issues and lack of polish are hard to ignore, and it seems clear that the game was rushed without proper optimization.

As a Linux user, I appreciate software that runs efficiently and uses system resources wisely. Unfortunately, Stalker 2 falls short on this front. The game regularly stutters and struggles to meet even basic performance expectations, which is incredibly frustrating when you’ve been waiting so long for an experience that was supposed to be groundbreaking.

The choice to use Unreal Engine 5 was initially exciting, with hopes that it would set a new standard for gaming. However, seeing the current state of Stalker 2 makes me worry about the future of games built on this engine. I’m especially concerned about upcoming projects from CD Projekt Red. If this is the direction for Stalker 2, then it seems likely that future titles might also suffer from underdevelopment and poor optimization.

What should have been a milestone in gaming feels like a missed opportunity. I truly believe that developers need to focus on delivering a solid, fully optimized product rather than rushing out half finished work. I remain disappointed and skeptical about how Unreal Engine 5 will shape the future of gaming. I hope this serves as a wake up call to push for higher standards in game development.
