When the enhanced edition of classic stalker games is released, will GOG owners retain the ability to install the legacy version?

If we have all 3 original stalker games in our gog library, i guess were also get these new versions for free as well ?
Work your way through what this implies.

WHEN EXACTLY WILL S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: LEGENDS OF THE ZONE TRILOGY ENHANCED EDITION BE AVAILABLE ON STEAM, PLAYSTATION, AND XBOX?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition will be available May 20, 2025 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam. All owners of the game will receive a separate edition of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition in their Steam and GOG libraries, which will be available for download immediately. If you do not have the complete collection, you will receive the updated version only for the games you have in your library. If you don't have any classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games in your library and if you want to buy the games or the collection, you'll get the classic three games for free when you purchase S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition.

I have the three games of the original series, which turned out to be a complete waste of money due to bullet-sponge enemies.

If that's what the enhanced editions are, then I'm not gonna bother.
Oh nice an incoming free upgrade, will be perfect time for a new SHOC run.

I wonder how their upgraded xray engine will compare with the openxray or ogsr engine that seem to have very similar shader/etc.. features as that enhanced edition.

Hopefully there will be some engine bug fixed too, not just some new shaders

I didn't know that there were mods that might make the game playable for me; thanks for the tip!
Looks like another classic game is going to be made disappeared in the GOG store, through breaking links to it.
In your Game Library, opening the entry for original SHOC, clicking on the store page link to its page, now sends you to the store page for the enhanced edition.
I noticed the game was added to my library
But i notice the old non-enhanced edition is still present in my library too, fortunately it hasn't been replaced and is still available
The new versions also require much stronger PC specs, so don't just forget about the original version just yet.

yep, i just tested and that "enhanced edtion" console port just crash for me while loading, looks like my pc isn't up to whatever they did

Looks like i'll keep my old offline installer and mods + ZRP for a longer time, not complaing as the oldie is still an excellent game.

Plus the mods for the legacy release are pretty good to just forget about just yet.

I got a reply from the STALKER team, they really have no idea WTF they are doing , "enhanced" of a ancient game does not mean it now requires a super computer.

Lets hope any "enhancements" can be back ported to the originals like CONTROLLER SUPPORT

While I am not defending them here and see the specs required on the store page madness for the difference in graphics and tech level changes.. But Really you call the specs here as that bad? Its from what I can tell actually way less then alot of recentish regular game company releases ..

Still madness though that the few changes and additions are somehow needing that much extra resources ..

Heck I was expecting maybe a slight uptick in hardware requirements but not a massive uptick as they are now in fact looking at other enhanced and even plain remasters that released this year or will be releasing this year doesn't have anywhere near as insane uptick in system requirements .. Which maybe its a engine based thing but given there has been devs admitting to not actually being good at optimizing games among other things I figure its more the staff in question here

Newer games thesy days are barely optimized outiside of the Doom devs.
