Hi hello, I have STALKER SHOC working with russian voices and english text, I did it a long time ago, but I think I remember how:

Install the russian version first

- make a copy of file called "gamedata.db9", it is the one with voices and text.

Now unisntall the game and install the english version

Now we will make a "mod" with the files:

- Download an extractor for the database files (db9), likes this one

- extract files from gamedata.db9, and put the folder called "sounds" in a folder called "gamedata" in the installation directory of the english version you installed. If the gamedata folder doesn't exist, create one, its called "gamedata" exactly.

Now try the game, it should be all in english, but voices in russian. Remember though, STALKER never had subtitles for all conversations and voices, so if you don't understand russian you won't understand the campfire dialogue for instance.

good luck

EDIT: ok searching a sec I found an old mod that adds closed captions, don't know if the guy translated the text or listened every dialogue but its worth a try, probably better than nothing:

Also, keep in mind that some big famous mods like Complete or OblivionLost might already put russian or ukranian voices in gamedata folder and even include a mod for subtitles with fixes or add-ons, so if you plan on using them beware of conflicts.

Your link for the caption mod is broken. It seems to have changed to this location:
