So i picked the GOG Spore up a while ago and finally got aorund to playing it. You can see what a great game it could have been if EA had not changed the game to be less about the science and more about the action. I would have loved the deeper more complex cell stage that was runoured to have been pretty much stripped to the bone before release.

Anyway here is a quick guide to using mods:

Mods shoud go inside both DATA and DATA1 folders located in your install path for the game (Mine is E:/GOG GAMES/Spore). You place the .package mod file in both those folders and you should be good to go.

Mods can be found at these links:

Sadly some sites are now gone and if anyone has others to add to the thread, please feel free :)

One last thing is i'm searching for a mod i only found this description of on the Spore Wiki:
Fixed Spore Mod

A mod created by user named "GPStudio" on YouTube. This mod includes a lots of fixes for Creature Stage, Civilization Stage and Space Stage.
https://spore.fandom.com/wiki/Modifications

I have not been able to find 'Fixed Spore Mod' anywhere, which is a shame as it sounds like it is a simple 'balance' type of mod rather than a big overhaul etc. So anyone here know where to get it from?
You're encouraging a needlessly haphazard, potentially-dangerous method of installing mods. I'd strongly recommend revising your post to direct people to use the Spore ModAPI Launcher Kit instead.

Also, while ModDB and NexusMods are great sources for many games, they're not for Spore, having little to offer besides ancient, dangerously broken mods.

While it may sound dangerous to you, I've just tried this suggestion and.. Bacteroid is finally working for me. I initially installed it with the ModAPI, and it tossed it into DataEP1, but the mod itself only seems to want to work while in the Data folder.

Not sure if each mods say where they want to be installed however, but I just want to point this out because i've been struggling to get it working for over a year now.
