Hi everyone !

I need to report a kind of situation i encountered in the game:
I threw bombs and dug a hole of the exact size of the giant golden head boss in stage 4:4, however it was deep but not enough to drop the enemy into the lava at the very bottom, and sadly it was also not wide enough to let me crawl under it to be attacked and break the last tile layer.
I created a "limbo" situation in which the boss wasn't able to get out of the "hole" i made, wasn't able to attack me, and i wasn't able to deal with it eighter, all i could have done was reset the game.

I hope it can be done something about it at this time, eighter making the boss able to get out of such situation, or making the stage end like that too.

Thank you for your time.

A couple more of issues i found: When i jump on top of the head boss, SOMETIMES the game detects an "arrow hit" with "instant kill", no matter the health level. Also, once i was on the ledge of a tile right next to he head but some tiles taller than it's bottom, it "squashed" me while raising from the ground.

Couldn't you just dig a new hole next to the old one? This would eventually widen the one you made, giving you enough wiggle room to break through the final layer into the lava. Unless I misunderstand the situation.

I was out of bombs because i used all of them to dig that one hole the boss fell into, i had no pickaxe, or anything that could have dug a hole at all.

"Limbo" situations are something that SHOULD NOT happen in a game, this one has already enough frustrating stuff like unavoidable hazards, forced failures and other things like that to can also permit itself to generate some Limbo in which the player can't do anything but reset the game.
I'd rather have the game killing me with a message "sorry dude, you can't go any further because you can't do anything else than walking in a no-exit room, go back to the beginning !" rather than making me go around dumb with no way to go further, no way to go back, no way to suicide, no way to do anything else at all than push the "reset" button.

Now, to be a bit constructive, the head should eighter be able to jump off such "holes" if such situation happens, OR let the player finish the game in a sort of "alternative way" about trapping the boss rather than killing it.

Sorry for the small "rant" like tone btw.

No problem. I understand your frustration, I guess, but essentially your situation was no different than dying to the boss. And you learned that to defeat the boss you have to dig a wider hole next time, either through bombs or by cleverly guiding the boss' own block-smashing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "unavoidable hazards and forced failures". Nothing in the game is unavoidable, but a lot of it is very, very hard to avoid and you often need to learn how to avoid it the hard way. But that's part of the roguelike-inspired design.

EDIT: I was mostly thinking of the original freeware version... it sounds like some of the new stuff in the HD version may actually be unavoidable and poorly designed.

An example was once in the worm, i reached the bottom and there was a plain line of "wall" between me and the exit, too bad i already had to use all the bombs previousely eighter to blow up a trap i couldn't avoid without taking fall damage, getting stunned and maybe killen too, or to get the chrysknife, or to reach another exit which was also blocked by a wall.
I couldn't even climb up again and take another path because the "wall" was from one side to the other of the map.
I can understand maybe making the exit reachable in an harder way if you don't have certain items but not making it reachable at all ? It's not like i have premonition powers and i can see the future to can predict there will be a wall right before one of the stages exits.

I haven't encountered that yet... it does sound like poor design. I played a lot of the original freeware game but have only gotten partway through the HD version. I guess some of the new stuff is not as tightly designed.

TWO THINGS: one, the giant golden head is olmec. if you have trouble with something, get it right! and lastley if you have enugh boms you can dig ANOTHER trench to get him out, if you dont then if you have ropes or a jetpack then at the top of the level are a bunch of gold and crates which you can find bombs in.
