I have a strange bug with Spelunky, when I try to start it, it crashes right away, when I try again, it works perfectly fine and stable, then when I exit and start again, it crashes, after that it works again.
This doesn't keep me from playing because I just have to start the game twice in a row, but it's weird anyway.

Has anyone else this problem or knows how to solve it?
I'm using WinXP and Xpadder.

Are you using a non-standard controller? I ask because if you're using an Xinput controller like the Xbox 360 one, then you don't need to run Xpadder :)
I have a very old noname-lowbudget controller without analog sticks that doesn't get recognized my most modern games anympore. (Fistpuncher, Pre-patch AquaKitty, Spelunky, Dust didn't recognize it. Post-patch Aqua kitty and Hammerwatch did)

So I used Xpadder for Spelunky for example. However since I'm using this controller only because I lost my modern one and I bought that jump&run offer in december, I bought a 360 controller last week. So I won't need Xpadder anymore.

About the bug, I figured out that it seems to be a corrupted temporary file. So I guess the game tries to read it, fails, than deletes that file. When it starts anew it sees the file missing, creates a new one, which works because it's fresh and when I start anew it's corrupted again.
I have the exact same issue.
