I feel stupid but is there a tutorial somewhere? I am having problems with some basic gameplay.

I can't check right now, but i think that when you start a new character, unless you tick the checkbox for 'Skip Prologue' you'll start the game by doing the Prologue - basically a tutorial - with a preset character.

indeed , just mark the prologue and the tutorial will start.

if you played similar games before the controls will feel alike.
The one you should always remember is "H" for holf.
If not your army will run towards the enemy :)
