Hey there, got the SF2 Anniversary Edition.
Game crashes always in the first mission.

I tracked the issue down:
As soon as I equip a staff and attack with it game crashes with a DX9 error message.
Assume it has something to do with the lightning effect of the equiped staff.

I installed DX9.
I lowered graphic settings to absolute minimum.
No effect.

I also reinstalled SF2...

Any help?

(Win 10, Radeon R9 290X with newest driver)
Hi,

same problem here.
Starting the SpellForce2.exe from the Installation Folder solve the problem for me.

System : Win10: I7-8700K: 32 GB Ram: Geforce 1070 gtx

For me unfortunately not.
Don't know what to do.

I also tried running SF2 by installing WIN 7 on another partition: Exactly the same behaviour.
I could reproduce this problem.
It is caused by a bug in the Adrenalin drivers, that also crashes Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2 and The Witcher 1. There were several articles about it in the tech news.
Updated drivers that solve this problem were released a few days ago. With them the game is running fine again.

Assume it is 18.1.1 ?

Is ist 17.12.1?
No, with 17.12.1 I was getting this problem, too.
It's fixed in the latest 18.1.1 drivers, that were released after 3 days after you made this thread.
thanks so much!
its working.

not lying: 5 minutes before your post I agreed with gog support to refund.
as gog and thq support could not deliver a solution :D
