I try to play LAN with a friend. Our computers are connected directly with a cable so no internet is available at all.
In the game lobby I see the hosted game but I'm unable to connect. It says "Trying to join..." for about one minute and then it says "Unable to join".

On the network side I see two connection attempts, one to the game host and another to 176.9.91.194, a server in the internet, which fails. If internet is available everything works.
It looks to me like the game tries to publish LAN games and connection attempts to the public servers as well and fails if it can't do so.

In the original Spellforce 3 there was no problem at all when using "connect to IP" mode. Here, both connection attemps go to the game host on the network.

If the devs read this please fix, or even better bring "connect to IP" back.

Could you please tell me the specific version of the game you and your friend are using, also the network.log in the installation directory and i will create a ticket for the devs for you!

We use both version "Release Build Rev. 75996 (May 12 2020 13:25:19), Content Rev. 138113". network.log seems to be empty.

The following link includes all game logs as well as a Wireshark network dump of the connection attempt. I hope this helps debugging.

How was this solved? I follow the link and I have to have a special Login to view it, lame. Is there anyway the resolution can be posted here so that those of us trying to play LAN games can get connected? I have the exact same issue.

I have two computers, both can see each others games via LAN (I have no internet connection on these two computers) but when we try to connect to each others games, after 1 minute it will say unable to connect. So my issue is the exact same issue as the OP.

I'm sorry but there is not solution at all :(

I marked this incorrectly as resolved after the issue was created by @Unreal_NeoX
but the issue was ignored for several years and now the link is dead.

Even worse, with the reforged edition it is no longer possible to play offline against the AI in single player.

I confirm that it's impossible to play SKIRMISH or even the JOURNEY MODE alone without internet connection !!

There must be something wrong here, because if you try to "Join" a game, there's a message that tells "Only LAN games are listed"... BUT if you instead try to "Host" a game, you get an "unknown network error"...
so you are unable to create a LAN game...
