Whenever I start SpaceChem it asks for a key. Aren't purchases from GOG.com supposed to be DRM-free?

How do I get this key?

I'm having the same issue. What key am I supposed to enter?

I have the same isue, already sended it to customer support
The same here on XP, but on 7 it worked fine (didn't ask for the key at all). Please post the solution, when support replies.
GOG version of SpaceChem doesn't require additional key.

Did you run both the installer and the game executable as administrator?
Same here, using XP on administrator account.
Installer prompts Microsoft .NET Framework download and installation. With this uninstalled the game will not launch. With it installed the game launches and then requests 'Spacechem Key'.

Did you have any previous version of Spacechem installed on that PC before?
We're trying to replicate the issue but with no luck do far.

I did not have any other versions of Spacechem installed. I've tried this on both my laptop running Windows XP Pro 32-bit and my desktop running Windows 7 Ultra 64-bit, if that helps. I hit the same issue each time.

The issue was addressed in new build (1.0.0.5). if it's not already on servers, it will be shortly.

IF you experience problems with key authentication, please uninstall current version and redownload the game.
I am having the same problem on Windows XP.

Installs, downloads the .net framework and runs, but asks for a key.

I did have a demo version installed previously. However I never did get the demo working as it required the .net 3.5 framework and I couldn't be bothered get it at that time. The demo has been uninstalled before installing the GOG version.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but to no avail.
Maybe the demo left some droppings somewhere? If so I cannot find them. Maybe you can tell me where and what to delete?
Either that or just give me a key. Easy fix!

It does however seem to work (ie not require a key) on my netbook running Windows 7 starter. Pity that it is unplayable on a 1024x600 screen :-(

This was posted 23 hours ago, and yet 1.0.0.4 is still the version available for download (which doesn't work for me, as it asks for a key).

When will 1.0.0.5 be available?

EDIT: 1.0.0.5 is now available!

I had the same problem with 1.0.0.5. I had installed the game using an admin user, and then tried to run it with my ordinary user (which has restricted rights; Windows XP doesn't have UAC, so I am emulating it that way). I was able to resolve it by copying the user settings from

c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\root\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\Zachtronics Industries\

to

c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\q13\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\Zachtronics Industries\

BTW, having to find workarounds like this is the reason I lately prefer ordering games without DRM.
wait for the new version

Having re-imaged my old netbook back to factory settings, I find myself in a similar situation: Spacechem install and launch but ask for a key. (the game worked fine (with some tuning due to the low resolution of the machine) on linux for the same machine.

I did try using the key in the registration.key file but the game consider it invalid: I suspect Windows XP handle things differently enough from its successors to have the key check fail completely.
Wow, it's 2019 and I still have the same problem...anyone knows how to solve this?
