My question is pretty simple : will our edition of Space Ranger 2 reboot be upgraded to the HD version ?

I just ask because I can't see different forum threads and wanted to know the differences.

Thanks for your time and answers.

According to wiki, Space Rangers HD: A War Apart is the Space Rangers 2: Reboot + Revolution addon
You do have Reboot (Gog doesn't delete purchased games from your library), you can add "Revolution" from this thread (remove https if your browser would add it)
snk-games.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=482

As result you would have something close to SR:HD, though, I guess, unpatched.

No, our SR2 Reboot games will not be upgraded and stay in our game library. If you want the HD remake you have to purchase it. The differences between reboot and A War Apart are pretty clearly detailed on product page (actually the only thing it talks about is what's new):

- New pirate subplot - After completing any one of the story branches a player can either end the game, or continue playing to complete another branch. the player’s actions influence the entire Galaxy, while the balance in either of wars may be tipped not only by the player, but by AI actions as well. No two playthroughs will be the same.
- Major technical overhaul - Display resolutions up to 1920×1200, multi-core processors, Windows® 7, and anti-aliasing in 3D planetary battles are now fully supported.
- Other improvements include more than 10 new text adventures, 15+ planetary battle maps, 20+ government missions, unique non-story events, new equipment and micromodules, access to all hyperspace engagements from the main menu and more!

If your're interested why original games were pulled from catalog, you can find the explanation here. Basically the original developers used MP3 format without license and when the publisher later found out they pulled the games from sale to avoid being sued.
Thanks ! I asked because I saw the "reboot" and the HD version were pretty similar. But it seems dumb to buy it again.

Wow - thanks for that. Until now I had no idea that was the reason.

It's a pretty crappy reason, though at least it probably wasn't their fault and they had to minimise risk.

And it's still better than any reasons Bethesda gives (e.g. why they pulled Fallout/Fallout2 from GOG).

Found this thread randomly by accident.

I would like to point out, that MP3 issues are the reason why Unreal series use Ogg Vorbis, and why many other games (including mine, when I used to make them) also use Ogg.

MP3 owners are VERY lawsuit happy, and WILL sue the shit out of you if they decide it, thus removing the MP3-based games was VERY wise (also is not just a question of removing all mp3 files, you also have to remove the MP3 reader and player from the engine entirely)
