gooberking: I recommend not worrying about it and go as far as to say everyone trying to get them to work is waisting perfectly good gaming time. They work for me but it's irritating having it come up every time I start the game so I turned it off in the INI file. Goes right to the title screen which is great. If you really have to see it then the youtube idea may be the way to go.

macuahuitlgog: Yeah, but it is not only the intro video that doesn't play...
Ok It is possible to play the game and see the videos on a windows 7 machine. Although probably not worth the trouble.

the solution is to use VMWare set up as an XP machine then both the program and videos run fine.
I also tried XP mode on windows 7 but the game never ran (probably the vitual graphics driver not up to the job). Virtual box may work but I've not tried it.
Same problem, Windows 7, 64bit. Still waiting...

Is it just that the intro isn't showing? No one seems to have a good fix for that yet, except to run under XP or possibly an XP Virtual Box as Sceptical suggests above.

If the game itself runs, however, you can always view the cutscenes outside the game, either just by going to Youtube or by some methods explained in this thread that will let you watch the movies from the game files on your computer.

I haven't played SR2 yet myself but I believe there is only an intro movie and an ending movie, so if you can watch the intro some other way, you could get underway with the game and maybe there'll be a better fix before you get to the end. And even if there isn't, you can watch the ending movie outside the game.
Getting the same problem. I wish I'd known about this issue before spending the $10.

I wish I'd known about this issue before spending buying the game too. I wonder if Space Rangers 1 has this problem...

Space Rangers 1 plays several little intro clips for 1C and Elemental Games, but I didn't see any cinematic intro. Is there supposed to be one? I can't find anything on Youtube.
Though I expected it, I actually don't have this problem. I just tested it and the intro video seems to show up just fine in Space Rangers 2. Using Windows 7 32-bit Professional here with no codec packs installed except the Combined Community Codec Pack (not sure if this is relevant though). If you want I can post which cutscenes are supposed to come when (if that is possible) as I make progress, for those of you who have issues. If you have any questions that could lead us to a solution, feel free to ask too. :)
same problems here, using W7 32bit.
Like I postet in the 1.81 patch thread, it helped to remove the following line from the install.txt:

"Logo=33,3300,Cenega.vdo,99"

Now I can see the intro video with no problems.

EDIT: Sorry, I was mistaken. I thought it worked now, but actually I just see a picture and the sound playing (both of which did't before).
