The game starts in Russian.

In Galaxy client settings for the game, language option is grayed out and says "English/Russian (in-game)".

However I don't see a way to change the language in-game.

How can I switch to English?

You can change the language in-game - go to "Options", then select "English" right at the top.

BTW "Options" should be the third item in the main menu when the game starts (since this will likely also be in Russian). The setting to "English" should be obvious after that.

According to the game manual, this is where the language option should be, but it is not there. If it is, I don't see it.

Can someone point me to it?

As Gremlion said, it should have been the very first option right up the top - on mine the only thing that is readable in English (if I start it in Russian) is the word "English" - everything else is in the Cyrillic alphabet as per your screenshot.

I've never had it not appear, but I've also never had it start in Russian either. It's possible the game uses your locale settings in Windows to determine what to show when it first starts, so it maybe guesses Russian is the best match?

At any rate, one of Gremlion's suggestions should hopefully work for you - either a restart or the file edit if that doesn't work.

Copied INSTALL_ENGLISH.TXT over INSTALL_RUSSIAN.txt and now game starts up in English.

Still no option to change language in-game :)

I'm in Europe, could be that the game decided I was closer to Russian than English because of my regional settings.

Either way, this is a workaround if someone has the same problem.

I thought the same thing, checked my settings on my GOG account and it was still set to US. Turns out the problem is Steam. I own this game on Steam (don't remember how) as well as on GOG. The game even shows up as not installed on Steam, but if I click the options and go to language menu it's sitting on a blank space. Click the drop menu, choose English, and the game starts up in English just fine. It seems Steam overrides your language settings even if you downloaded the game from GOG.

Go to the game folder.
Open goggame-xxxxxxxxxx.info with some text editor.
5th line start with something that:

[i] "language": "English",
"languages": [
"en-EN"
],[/i]

Change "English" in the 5th line (Polish, Spanish,etc.),
and "en-EN" in the 7th line to you language (pl-PL, se-ES, etc.).
