I'm still learning about this game, but I have some feedback I want to give.

Transporting stuff. It looks like its a lot of work to lift up cargo and carry stuff around everywhere. I keep thinking that my staff might want to use a cart or something so they're not over worked. Maybe build a few drones to move stuff so my staff don't have to worry about it. Also, if we are in space, wouldn't it be possible to push things around in zero g? I think that would be a lot easier that lifting it.

Striping everything down. It feels real tempting to strip everything down from derelict ships. I mean everything, not just the outer hull. Unfortunately, some of the ship can't be recycled. I've also been unable to claim shuttles.

Shuttle docking location. When striping a ship down, sometimes the air lock is placed in the most inconvenient location, so there is a lot of distance to travel to get blocks and scrap. I would like to be able to place where ever its most convenient for me, which might change several times as I strip a ship down.

Scrap. Its unfortunate that you harvest scrap instead of real components. Its also unfortunate that you can't get tech or energy blocks from recycling scrap. It took me a bit to figure out that recycling gets you most of the components you need to make energy or tech blocks, but you still need several more fab units to assemble the parts into the final form.

Continuous refining. I keep getting warnings that I'm out of resources, but it turns out the warning is for things I put on a continuous production. Scrap takes up less room after being recycled, so I have little reason to keep any in its unrefined form. There are many things I would like to be refined automatically, but I don't like getting warnings about.

Selecting crates. It annoys me that I can't click on a crate and see whats there. I like having information.

While I'm thinking about them, I'll mention some bugs.

I had trouble trying to loot a 5 derelict. For some reason, my crew wouldn't fly over there and salvage that one derelict. It might have something to do with it being the 5th derelict. If its not that, then I don't know why I couldn't loot it.

There was a case where the crews of ships kept dying. I think they were trying to loot a derelict, but kept getting killed off by nasty space bugs. I think what was happening was, there was many bugs and the only place with solid ground was near the bugs. I think they keep trying to reach solid ground and thus landed next to the bugs. I later killed the bugs by shooting at them from space. Since many ships lost their crew, I was able to loot a lot of salvage. :)

More feedback.

There doesn't appear to be a way to get more crew. At least, I haven't found a way yet.

I ran into some trouble putting my ship on red alert. For some strange reason, one of my station slots wasn't being filled by a crew member. It rendered me unable to use my weapons. I found a work around, and that involves making sure the weapons station is filled first before setting the other stations to be filled.

While I do hope for better AI to make smarter choices to avoid them falling victim to these weird situations where the AI keep getting defeated, I also feel that this makes the game realistic because you can see that the AI are just as vulnerable as the player, which makes me feel more immersed in the game. Other games seem to treat the players and the AI differently but Space haven seems to do a good job of showing the player that they and all the other "players" as in AI are all just as dangerous, and as fragile and vulnerable as each other. This is really cool

I hope bugbyte devs do not patch out this interesting occurrence, because it actually makes the game world feel more alive, that you can actually watch that happen. The game is showing the player that "stuff is going on, and the game doesn't fully revolve around only the player"

so I'm actually VERY happy to hear this, and I do not think it's a bug or a glitch at all.

In fact, we must also consider that the player is in danger the whole time they are sitting in one place scavenging everything, so it's an exciting challenge as well.

Please don't patch, It's not a gltich! please please please do not patch.
I don't consider the actions of the mentioned AI to be intelligent or stupid. It is merely the absence of anything better than a simple script. Low level melee aliens can't fly, so shoot at them from space. Its not that difficult of a strategy. This game is in development so I'm expecting the AI to be needing improvements.

Anyho. Has anyone been able to increase their crew? I ask because I think I've been doing something wrong. I have a 3 hyperdrive ship that is bursting at the seams. I've tried to invade ships to capture prisoners and hopefully convert them, but I'm outnumbered whenever I try. I've tried this and reloaded my games many times. I'm tempted to warp back to earlier solar systems in hopes that I could fight someone with similar manpower to myself and see if that works out.

Does anyone know what to do with super blocks? I traded for some, but I can't seem to do anything with them.

I think this game needs some solution to the ever growing stock pile of corpses. At least, my growing stockpile. I nab everything and try figure out what to do with it later. I'm looking for some better solution than resorting to canabalism or eating alien meat. If possible, I would like to be able to convert them into soil, water, or even a soylent green concoction.

You can chuck the bodies out of your ship. And I think superblocks aren't finished.

Getting new crewmembers is a game of chance. You may encounter hypersleep chambers on derelicts, with survivor sleeping inside and if you open it, you should get new guy or gal.
I never really got anywhere far yet, but i had my crew eat human flesh and alien meat, some complained a bit but the debuff went away after while. In that game i once nearly lost my crew to lack of food so I have them use whatever they can, now.
Well, I've stopped stripping ships down to the last piece of hull scrap. I have way more parts and resources than I know what to do with. I suppose thats the expected effect of playing on easy. The only thing I don't have is more crew. Its hard to get a lot done without crew.

Is this any drawback to not having enough hyper space engines? Looking at my stats, I'm about 5200 units on a ship with engines good for 4800 units. I still can hyper jump to other star systems.

Has anyone noticed that the mass of your ship goes down as you recycle scrap, while going up when refining ice or steel? It seems like the mass of the ship is determined by the quantity of things you have.

I want some way to tell the grow beds to finish its current project and then stop producing things. For example, the abandoned mining station scenario. At some point, you will need to abandon the station so it wouldn't make sense to leave behind half grown vegetables. Or maybe you wanted a small amount of fiber and not waste water on another batch.

I have a need to be able to blow up walls or objects. I've had several instances where progress exploring a ship was stopped because there was a bed in front of the door. I can't easily tell my soldiers to shoot a bed or wall. I have click a wall and hope that the soldier will be able to shoot that wall. Then repeat it enough times to destroy it. In another instance, I had a door at a point where 3 walls intersected. Basically a normal wall and door, except there is also a wall in front the door.

I want to collect fractions of resources. Many factory units will store fractions of resources. For example, the recycler will convert 1 unit of hull scrap into 0.2 units of hull blocks. If you dismantle the recycler, do you get to keep those fractions, or are they lost? Is the same true of the oxygen generator, or power generator?
I had a thought on feedback, but not immediate implementation but perhaps a looong way down the road.

I couldn't figure out how to do certain things for a while (for example, I couldn't figure out how to link power at first between nodes, or put things on the various walls). Perhaps if they added arrows and a blinker to the tutorial items to make it more obvious what exactly someone is supposed to click on at times to get things started (in their initial foray into the game).

[The game runs great for the state it's in, seriously impressive and better than some games are at final release!]

Well, after searching through the key bindings, I found out that you could order selected drafted personal to immediately stop by pressing the x key. Helpful if you spotted a bug or something, and need to stop and start shooting it. I think this should be in the tutorial.

I'm finding the shotgun to be a deadly weapon. I tried to equip some of my crew with rifles, but it seems to be the shotgun that is the most deadly, or at least against space aliens. I still need to test the sub machine gun. This is the feedback from someone who has purged aliens from dozens of derelicts.

I'm a bit annoyed that most derelicts have their cargo scattered in piles all over the ship. I need to take care of where I store stuff, so I don't like that derelicts seem to get a free pass. That, or let us store junk where ever we want just like the crews of derelicts did.

I think I should be the judge of whether or not a derelict could be claimed or not. I had another situation where the crew of a ship went to investigate an alien infested derelict, got killed off, and their ship became a derelict. It was perfectly fine ship. I wanted to claim it, but I couldn't because it was a derelict.

I can't seem to raise the skills of my crew, or make them to do something they are not trained in. Its real annoying when you find out that in one of your games, you only have crew member able to mine.
Thank you everyone for your feedback! We're going through it all and will create new updates to our best judgment!
I finally got some new crew! Found about 2 of them in separate derelicts.

In my first game (easy), I think I have enough resources to fly my way all the way to the end. I've got over 100 ice, energium, and hyperfuel. Also I got 4 turrets, 2 shields, and 2 hull stabilizers. The only reason I still stop now is to try to find new crew members. If I had more crew, I would probably try to build another ship or two.

Machine pistols seem alright. They hit the enemy with multiple shots, much like the shotgun. However, collateral damage seems to have increased when using them. They haven't destroy much of value yet, stuff like walls, so I'm OK with using them.

Why can't you select crew members using Ctrl? Shift seems to do Ctrl's job. When selecting cargo to transfer from derelict to main ship, they reverse roles, with Shift doing nothing and Ctrl doing its normal job.

New game. I decided to play a new game with the space station at hardest difficulty. I ended up building my ship in the corner of the allocated space, so my design was going to be very lop sided. On top of that, the airlock was pointing to the center, so expansion in that direction was going to be trickier. I had a range of minable resources and a derelict to strip bare, so I had enough materials to build my ship.

I found a claimable ship and derelict on my first stop. I cleared the derelict and claimed the claimable ship. Since you get full resources for disassembling your ship parts, I was getting blocks not scrap. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to peacefully strip these ships. Pirates were coming. I saved.

In my first run, I tried to see how much I could nab before jumping, but I got lucky. Another ship was in the system and it killed the pirate ship, barely surviving the battle. The blocks and scrap were good loot, but I also got some new weapons. I was able to equip all my crew members with shotguns. I think I recall another ship tried to raid the pirate ship before they died, got beat, so their ship also became a derelict. I was swimming in blocks and scrap.

I discovered that I was running low on food. I discovered this early enough that I was able to build more grow beds before some of my crew went lightly hungry. I had 5 crew at the time, and had 4 grow bed slots. I doubled that to 8. That appeared to be enough to keep my crew feed with a little surplus.

Hypersleep chamber. I dreaded going to a new system. I was low on energy rods (1 left), and I knew that hypersleep chambers need a fresh energy rod after a jump or after when they were first built. After jumping to a new system, I found that my crew was trying to restock the sleep chambers, and I didn't have any tools to stop them. I think my reactor was going through about 1 rod per day, and it had less than 2 rods remaining. I was under pressure to get more energy rods asap.

Fortunately there was a spot where I could mine energium in the new system. 1 energium can be converted into 5 energy rods, and I mined more than 10 energium crystal. So energy problem solved.

I also killed a pirate ship in this new system. I don't remember if I killed it it first, or I found the energium first. It doesn't really matter much. I killed the pirates with 1 shield and 2 guns.

I would like to know what resources I would get if disassembled an object. Let me however the mouse over the disassemble button to get a popup. It would make it a little easier to determine which objects to disassemble to build others.

I ended up loading up that earlier save. I wanted to see how well I would do if I ran when I first found out that a pirate ship was going to show up and attack. I left as soon as I could. I made a few jumps and found a spot to mine resources. I never saw that pirate ship again. Because my ship didn't get to do much looting, I had to make a lot of my needed parts myself. That didn't pose much of a problem. I found more resources, built and disassembled production units and eventually made it the next system with 2 turrets and a shield on my ship.
I've managed to collect 4 personal from hyperspace sleep chambers, bringing my crew total up to 8. However, I'm more than half way through my game, and my ship was fully decked out a long time ago.

I like the fact that ship weapons don't keep firing at a ship that has jumped or ships that were destroyed. Good fix.

I find it annoying that when my troops drop on a derelict (after being attacked), then recover, but don't wake in drafted mode, inconvenient. If the derelict was hostile enough to make you drop, then you're probably be in some danger when you wake up. I also find it annoying that when I lift them up to take them the shuttle, but then they wake up while being carried, they wonder around in normal mode instead of being drafted and heading to the shuttle.

You might want to create weapon lockers. To store weapons and other combat stuff. I was able to simulate this by transferring all my weapons to one storage. Bring all here, for all weapon types. I'm not sure how many players will realize they can do that, so maybe make a block that does it for them.

Some boarding ship improvements. When you select a shuttle, then double clicking a derelict symbol (to find it), your view is centered on the derelict, but you also lost the shuttle you had selected. You then have to select the shuttle again and then scroll to where the derelict was to dock.

I keep forgetting that my crew will stick around a claimable ship as though it were home base. No life support, sounds great! Seriously though, I need to remember to keep my crew drafted and order them back to the shuttle, otherwise they will stand around and lose oxygen.

I would like it if shuttles could carry some stuff over a derelict ship I'm looting or stripping. Maybe more oxygen tanks for extended operations or something for entertainment for when my crew needs a break. I've seen my crew sitting in the chairs that derelicts have, which to me is a sign that they are bored.
Hm, does anyone face the problem that after you extend the base the crew doesn't find their beds anymore?
Well, I beat the game. Achievement get. Time to move on to some other game... I kid, I kid. I plan on saving some energy for when this game goes through a development milestone. I'm going to take it easy for now so I don't get burnt out by this game.

Recruiting pirates. I had an opportunity to capture some pirates. It turns out that if you destroy their ship and jump out, then jump back, the wreck might say derelict, but it may still have some live crew on board. I tried loot the place and it turned into an unexpected fire fight. It was a small ship, so it was well within my ability to win. Afterwards I took prisoners and tried to figure out how to recruit them.

Lacking any game manual, I had to figure things out the hard way. First off, I had to assign prisoner areas. My ship wasn't built to take prisoners, but I did have a medical room. Once I set aside my med bay as space for the prisoners, they traveled there and some even used the medical beds to heal and stop bleeding. I expanded the prisoner area to include all the beds and facilities, but strangely enough, my crew would not sleep in the beds any more, nor use the toilet. I had to modify my ship. I saw that their chance of being recruited rise as they used my facilities, so I concluded that the comfort and treatment of my prisoners affected the odds of being recruited. I let them be until it reached about 10%, at which point it didn't rise any further. I tried recruiting at that point. I got one right away, some the next few days, and one took about a week.

At that point, I'd decided that I had sufficient crew to manage 2 ships. Building a second ship was more time consuming than I'd thought it would be. And resource consuming. I ran out of infrablock at some point, and I had over 200 when I started. I also tried to make it a clone of my main ship, but that was probably a mistake. The bigger my second ship got, the more it froze. It made it harder and harder to keep it warm. Space that was once warm became cold. And trying to put blocks in the same place as the main was difficult as I had to figure out where all the walls, doors, and misc went in order to align things correctly.

In the end, I never finished building my second ship. It became space worthy and capable of putting up a fight, but I never got all the resources needed to finish it. I even started stripping derelicts bare again, and started producing ship parts instead of relying on the scrap I could find. It was near the end of the game, so I didn't bother waiting for it be finished.

I had another opportunity to raid a pirate ship, a big one this time, so I destroyed it and then sent aboard several boarding parties. It was a bit of a mess, and some of the pirates died. Not just in the attack, but also because they were bleeding to death before I could take them to my ship. I'm thinking that med kits and oxygen tanks should be added as equipment to help keep prisoners alive. And crew (you can't be too careful when fighting aliens).

This time, when I tried to recruit the prisoners, I found that the odds of being recruited and odds of rebelling added up to roughly 10%. I didn't notice the rebelling stat that the first time around. I must of waited a long time the first time around.

When pirates run away, their shields don't recharge (or you run). It don't matter how long until you meet up with them again; the pirates shields will still be drained when you meet them again. It makes it rather easy to kill them. You shoot them, then either you (before you take too much damage) or they jump out, then you recharge your ships and repair your ship, then get ready for round 2.

Giving gifts to factions seems expensive. I tried giving a big gift to a faction at some point. I wanted to see what happens. It took most of my money and hyperspace fuel. I didn't seem to get much out of their gratitude. I also would have liked choose what I give. Big or small gifts seem to be awfully expensive.
