can any one tell me the difference between Deluxe and Gold
which is the newest and what mods work on deluxe , i.e does mods for Gold version work on gold

Sorry that I can't really tell you anything with much authority but:
Deluxe is the most recent version, superseding gold and standard (in that order)
If you have an older version I believe you can patch it up to the deluxe version http://www.malfador.com/se4dwngp.html

I've not really looked much into mods myself, but I expect they overwrite the .txt and .bmp files/add new ones, if they overwrite them then you'll want ones with updates which have occurred since the last patch or they might undo part of the patching which was presumably worth having fixed. That said, if you can patch from Gold -> Deluxe and so much of the game is in such simple formats - I'd wager you can probably use older mods if you want to, though they may have some unintended knock on effects.

yeah thank you, for some reason i thought Gold was the last one , but i am sure you are right Deluxe is the last version . i have tried a few mods well the ones for Gold version and they work with deluxe , but when i say mods they are just new ships and races
