Hello, fellow GOG users.

I am new to the game and thus I am confused on this one thing, combat.

Can you seriously only target one ship at a time? I have designed a Space Station with multiple weapons of different types (I forget the details) yet in the Simulator I can only target one ship per combat turn at a time?

Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

Thanks in advance and Happy Gaming.

You have to research Combat Support and have a component of Multiplex Tracking on your ships to target more than one enemy a turn.

I picked up the game about a week ago and am trying to figure out some general concepts like how to build a race, and how to climb the tech tree, how fast to expand - basically how to win. So when I come up with specific questions, I will ask. I did note that I could not find much information online, but did stumble into a forum on shipyards.

Edit: Here is a preliminary question - Is the "Quick Start" with a default race okay? So far, I have played about 30 turns into a game and gotten first contact with neutral races that have no interest in expanding beyond their home system.

There are many parameters you can adjust when starting a NEW GAME. My favorite way to play is by selecting the largest sized galaxy since I prefer long, epic games, then turning OFF neutral races because they're boring to interact with for the most part and lack background information.

Pick whichever race suits your play style. I started with the Cryslonite race, since the idea of a genocidal, virus like race seemed like a cool idea.

Also, like others have suggested, it's a good idea to install the TDM mod pack. It greatly improves the AI.
