I'm having trouble starting the game - I briefly get a black screen and then a 'Space Colony has stopped working' box. I suspect that this is due to my unusual desktop resolution of 3240x1920 and I am unable to change it to something more standard. Is there some way to start the game in a window, either by modifying settings or using external tools?

Dxwnd seems to work in that the game starts in a window, however the performance I get is extremely poor (only about 1 frame per second). I'll post on the dxwnd forums to see if they have a solution for this.

I asked on the DxWnd forums, and it seems that the fix for this is to disable the 'Set AERO Compat' flag in the DxWnd settings in the DirectX tab. This makes the Windows Aero effects switch off while the game is running, but it makes the game work.

It's also worth changing the window size to 1920x1080 on the main tab (or whatever your desired window size is) and switching to 'HDMI modes' instead of 'SVGA modes' on the Video tab.
