Hi,

I play Space Colony HD on a Macbook late 2008. Its native resolution is 1280:800. However, in the setting of Space Colony HD, I have only the choices 800:600 and 1024:768.

So, how to force the screen resolution to play in widescreen ? (1280:800)

My spec. technique :
Macbook 13" alu unibody
2 Ghz core 2 duo
nvidia 9400m
4 Go ram
500 Go HDD

Thank you so much

I have no idea, i'm not a Mac person, but since no one answered yet i'm going to suggest looking into this post. Maybe there's something in 'set screen options' relevant to allowing other resolutions.
I tryed to change screen resolution in sets of Wineskin (set screen options). I forced resolution to 1280*800, without effect (always in 1024*768).

I also unchecked "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" and play the game, without effect too, but graphic problems appeared without using X11 (clipping of lines on the top of the screen).

I precise my OS is Mac OS X Mavericks.

Maybe another wrapper is more convenient on this OS but it doesn't update by GOG yet ?

Thank you Namur to try to resolve my problem ! (I wish to play this game with my current resolution soon)
I wish i could be more help but like i said i'm not a Mac person :(

You could try contacting GOG's support, it's likely they can help you with this.
Hi,

I contacted GOG support this afternoon. In fact, Space Colony HD doesn't support 16:10 resolution but 4:3 and 16:9 only.

So I tried to change my mac resolution in 1280:720 instead of 1280:800 (using a software which enable to force another resolution than current resolutions available).

But any effect, when it's started, the game change by itself the resolution to come back in 4:3.

I think there is no hope to play in widescreen with a native ratio of 16:9.

Thank you for your help
That's a shame.

I hope you'll play it sometime anyway, it's a really fun game.
Yes that's a shame.

Maybe an update of this game (update of the wrapper I think) will be available if other people has the same problem like me.

I had the same problem, I found DXWnd on Sourceforge which allows you to hook the game and force the window resolution and or to run in a window.

DXWnd can be found on Sourceforge dot net or just google it ( can't post a link sorry)

DXWnd Description:
Windows hooker - intercepts DirectX calls to make fullscreen programs to run within a window, tipically useful for windows games.

Start DXWnd, edit tab- click modify, on main tab enter game name (Space Colony), under Path enter games .exe location then check Hook enabled and Run in Window. On Video tab check Limit resolution (800x600 or 1024x768). On
Input tab check 'Correct mouse position'. I left everything else unchecked, and the game runs fine for me in a window (Windows 7 64bit), just have to remember to maximise the window each time after starting the game (it starts minimised with a blank screen). If you know what you doing there is a lot of other options in DXWnd, just be careful.

I hope this helps someone.

That was bollocks. The game supports all common resolutions up to 2560x1600, which is 16:10.

Unfortunately, even though it supports 2560 wide, it doesn't support 21:9, which is 2560x1080.

Trying to find out a way to manually set it, but there doesn't appear to be a human readable config file.
