When I start the game I get the round windows loading icon and then then error report window "Space colony HD has encountered a problem" and that its searching for a solution.
I tried many compatibility options, graphics card settings, rebooting, reinstalling, installing the directx package recommended on gogs support site. Also tried adding a DEP exception.Even set the core affinity to 1 in the shortcut. Always the same. There is no cfg file in the games folder, nor in the users folder to mess around with. I also checked the logs of comodo, but it blocked nothing.

Here's the kicker, I installed the old space colony demo from the official site and it works flawlessly without any tinkering! So whats going on?

Windows 7 64bit, 2500k,8GB,GTX670

I got it to work! It was some problem with the nvidia graphics settings, I turned off everything I could in the driver 3D settings, anisotropic, antialias, vertical sync, everything, and then it ran. I guess the old demo version didnt use those at all, thats why it worked.

Edit: I narrowed it down, the culprit was "Preferred refresh rate" which was on highest available, and has to be set to Application controlled. The good thing is that this enabled me to get another game to run, which was supposedly not win 7 64bit supported. (Spells of Gold)
