I'm on XP just bought game but wont load at all past 'Soulbringer' logo after intro video then crashes to desktop asking if I want to send an error report.
I noticed a thread from 2011 that said they were on the case-surely they're not still trying to fix it! Why is it on sale if it causes this many problems, can I get my money back?
So this worked fine for me when I had my nvidia card, but I reverted back to my old ATI card for drivers reasons with another game. Now when I try running this and nothing happens. SoulBringer.exe shows in the taskmanager list.

But setting compatibility to win 95 for SoulBringer.exe seems to have fixed it for me. The dialog shows up, and the game starts when I click play. Before, I never saw the starting dialog.
so any word on a fix for the 'fatal error' yet?
Nah haven't been any updates yet, I'll try to update my support ticket.
Same problem here, I believe. Windows 7 64-bit , Radeon HD 7900, getting "Fatal error....Exiting".

What's irritating is that this configuration ran Soulbringer successfully months ago. But something went bad on this machine, so as it was still under warranty, I got all the important parts replaced. Motherboard, Graphics card, etc, etc, etc. Could be something there, could be the drivers. I tried reverting back to older drivers but that had no effect.

Other (more recent) games work, but Soulbringer doesn't.

But I also have a low-end PC that I only use for e-mail and web-surfing. I didn't even know what kind of graphics card it used, but for the heck of it I looked and it is an NVidia. So I installed Soulbringer to that PC.

Bang - works like a charm. Gameplay is the same. Use an NVidia card if you can!
Yea it really seems to be a Radeon issue honestly.
It works fine on my laptop, which has Intel HD.
So, on my Windows 8 Radeon computer, (with help from GOG support), I was able to get into the opening menu of the game.

I downloaded ATI 12.8 drivers from here : http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=2958&file=1&evp=82c87d6681ed7a6c9a206c2b4f6a0319
and followed instructions as to unpacking them from here: http://www.kn00tcn.net/site/how-to-extract-dlls-from-amd-catalyst-driver-packages/
I just used atiumag.dll, forced the game to run at Windows 98 compatibility, forced it to run in 640x480 resolution, and then in the obnoxious probably is what is causing the problem menu, switched from the default to Radeon video and set the resolution to 640x480x32 (since I HAVE to force via the properties to be 640x480 under idiot Windows).

So I'm at the menu screen, but the game runs like a slideshow and all of the text is total gibberish.

At least it's progress.
Hey guys I have the same problem today and can't get it work. Though I somewhat recall I used to need to switch off an option at ATI long time ago when I played on WinXP. And I think it was Soulbringer and some other games that needed it. Dunno which option it was and actually I had to install ATI Tray tools because normal CC doesn't offer this option at all.

Soulbringer never worked without that option turned on. And that option is normally on at ATI's.

MB later I will look to it download Tray tools again and come up with the precise direction.

Did you ever find out if it works with this option turned off, and if so, which option? I have Soulbringer v1.3 from DotEMU, but I still get "Fatal Error... Exiting"

Sorry, Ati Tray tools don't work anymore for my computer. Wonder how I could help us now. If I get it solved somehow I'll stop by and post it here.

No worries. I don't have Catalyst anymore after updating to the newer Microsoft driver for my AMD card, so I can't be of much help, either.
